After a two year hiatus, an induction into fatherhood, and some time to regroup, two-time JUNO Award-winner Dan Mangan has returned under a new moniker, Dan Mangan + Blacksmith. The new name encompasses the spirit of the project’s longstanding ensemble members joining the band fromVancouver's experimental music community, Kenton Loewen, Gordon Grdina, John Walsh (and often Jesse Zubot, JP carter andTyson Naylor) with a communal sensibility that merits the marquee amendment.

Produced by Colin Stewart and Dan Mangan, Club Meds at times evokes images of subtler American-underground innovators like Blonde Redhead or Steve Reich. At other moments, it hits emotional pay dirt reminiscent of British scene-survivors like Peter Gabriel or Radiohead.  Blacksmith brings an unmistakable character to Club Meds; a stark glassy edge that swells and sways like a roaring ocean. Through a fog of analog feedback loops and synths, the band's performances breathe deeply and steadily like a dragon at rest.

The Jacques are the bastard teenage love child of cockney guitar pop and just about anything that came out of New York during the early ‘00s. Two sets of brothers, all 16-21, they charge with their Britpop bayonets against the modern view that rock and roll with clever lyrics is dying.  Brought up on a diet of The Strokes, The Ramones, The Jam, The Lemonheads and Elvis Costello, they brought their own brand of noisy pop punk to festival stages across the summer, most recently at Hyde Park in London, where they supported The Libertines. 

They will release their debut Pretty DJ EP (recorded in Rockfield Studios with Dan Swift) through 25 Hour Convenience Store on November 3rd. Gary Powell, Libertines drummer and label co-founder, signed the band on the spot after seeing them perform in Hyde Park. 

He explains, “There was a really big crowd forming and I was interested to see who was on, and there were these 4 kids up there just owning it.  I thought ok, we want this lot on the label.”

Formed in January 2014, and based in Bristol, The Jacques are: Bonnie Jacques (voice/guitar),  Elliot Jacques (drums),  Oliver Jacques (bass/voice),  Jake Jacques (guitar).

Og nu er det her. Næsten. 

Den 3. september udgiver Christian Hjelm sit debut-soloalbum. En fortælling og forædling af alt det, der har givet Christian Hjelms karakteristiske og karismatiske vokal og sangskrivning en helt speciel plads på den danske scene.

Vokalen er stadig helt i front. Stadig en af Danmarks stærkeste. Men scenen er ny. Nu på dansk. 

Fra Beatles til Gasolin. Fra stenbroen til sommerlandet.  

I Christian Hjelms egne ord, er albummet kommet ”ganske naturligt. Det hele kom ligesom bare til mig, som om at det var noget jeg havde brug for at komme af med. Og det har samtidig åbnet en dør til områder jeg ikke har været før, selvfølgelig pga. sproget, men også et forum hvor jeg har kunnet komme af med nogle andre vibes”.

Albummet er indspillet i Studio R, Valby og er produceret af Christian Hjelm og mixet af Klaus Q Hedegaard.

Christian Hjelm - Scenen Skifter Nu (album ude 03.09.2012)

Cæcilie Trier has with her new main project, CTM, once again proven herself to be one of the most interesting voices and musicians from Denmark. Her musical CV is amazing: Playing cello in the critically acclaimed Choir of Young Believers, being the créateur of Chimes & Bells and playing in Le Fiasko and the experimental group, Valby Vokalgruppe. 

CTM is Cæcilie Trier’s new solo project and with CTM another path in her creative mind is revealed. The tunes of CTM are danceable with distinct vocals and likeable beats wrapped in an adventurous production. The percussive elements and the synth arrangements are at once a homage to the musical stars of the early eighties: Avantgarde artists like Laurie Anderson one side and on the other side icons like Leonard Cohen and Michael Jackson. 

Wil be released February 18, 2013 in Germany, Austria, Switzerland
