On Rotation returns with the second instalment of its Genetic Memories V/A series, showcasing the diversity of the label’s sound through 4 floor-focused cuts from a spectrum of global talent.

Fresh from dropping an EP with our good friends space:lab, Rambal Cochet delivers a mind-melting A1 to start things off. Deep, tasteful and making full use of his trademark sound design, “Meteora” is one for the witching hour! 

Bolam steps up next with the party-starting “Dream Machine”. Colourful synths sit atop driving breaks, with the peak-time energy dialled up to 11. 

Flipping the record reveals a darker, hazier sound. Moisk’s “GooSE Attack” is reminiscent of long nights (and mornings, and afternoons) in the smoky clubs of Berlin and Amsterdam, while the dark, rolling tech house of “X-Stream” by Aussie heroes Primitive Needs is pure afters’ fodder - a real B2 killer for those who know.

On Rotation is a Leeds-based event & mix series turned label, with 6 genre-defining releases featuring scene stalwarts such as Adam Pits, Solar Suite, Anderson, Roza Terenzi and Hybrid Man, Jamie Leather & more.

VA - Genetic Memories Vol. 2 [ONRO06] - CLIPS

It was hard to see what was really there, lurking between the shadows. The darkness tended to conceal a world of mystery and haunting truths – invisible forces which danced between the black.

Wandering amongst the trees, they would occasionally catch a glance or a glimmer of a face or a memory lost to the wooded place. It would never stick around for long…

The night was eerie and still, the branches shrouded this part of the world in secrecy and whimsy.

The invisible forces lived here, all of them.

David J Bull features on Volume One of a new compilation series from Paradia – this track caught our ear, a lumbering groove with ominous undertones.

Earlier this summer we released a beautiful LP called "Out Of The Unknown" from ZG, a collaborative project from Zansika & Grant.

When we finished the record, we came up with a wishlist of producers to reimagine a track from the project, and London's Tim Reaper was at the top of it. Tim graciously accepted the request, and the outcome was an absolutely enormous Jungle version of "Meet You There" that has been a secret weapon on friends of the labels USB sticks this past summer.

 The Milan-based producer makes his debut on the label with Weirdo Jelly EP, offering a fresh take on electronic dance music that is both adventurous and mysterious but elegant nonetheless.

While the entrancing repetitiveness of percussive loops on Weirdo Jelly EP are a love letter to the dance floor, there is a dedication to songwriting to be sensed that goes beyond functional club tunes.
Cinematic and melancholic, yet full of hope. Euphoric and immersive, yet effortlessly free. Across these three originals, Acidgigi carves out a sound that is uniquely his own.

Toronto’s Ciel adds a thrilling 90s inspired remix version of Silly Dub that fuses the dubby, percussive nature of the original with vocals chops into a trip of a dance floor tune.

The Scottish artist Alasdair Gray (1934-2019) is a ninth-generation ecological fox. His novel Lanark: A Life in Four Books (1981) is considered a masterpiece of weird, realist fiction and surreal, dystopian storytelling.

U-1 Flight by new-dot-com goes in a comparable direction with its five tunes that boldly explore the realms of edgy techno, heavy bass, and trippy dub. They use factual basses, kicks, snares, claps, hi-hats, and devious sonic shapes and reassemble them into diverse, thoroughly fictitious textures, structures, and ruptures.

“The U-1 flight from Unthank may proceed to Hampden as planned on beam co- beam co- beam coordinate zero flux zero parahelion 43 minutes 19 point nought 7 seconds epihelion ditto neg- ditto neg- ditto negating impetus reversal flow 22 point nought 2- nought 2- nought 2- nought 2- nought 2 beyond the equinoctial of Quebus on the international nerve - national nerve - national nerve-circuit-decimal-calendar-cortexin-quantum-clock. Clever as a fox, the narrator goes down his own road and sees what happens along the way. And how does Lanark react to the cited announcement?
