@lukid is about as low key as they come. Somehow, he's managed to remain in the shadows despite making music - either solo or as half of Rezzett - for cult labels like Actress' Werkdiscs and The Trilogy Tapes, as well as his own Glum. His style is hard to define and can take in anything from caustic sonic collages to experimental and abstract sound design via lo-fi house and blistering beats. Since 2018 he has also made old school jungle as Refreshers, but whatever he does, it always explores the outermost fringes. The same is always true of his never less than adventurous transmissions on NTS each month.

In just 55 minutes for us this week, he serves up a breathless trip through hugely kinetic sounds that could be 30 years old or not out till next month. Amongst the colliding energies of hardcore, jungle and rave he will often drop a pitched up vocal so soulful and emotive it hurts, before racing onto the next flurry of drums. Frankly, it's a high speed mix of hyper real sounds that acts like a double shot of adrenaline straight into your bloodstream. You have been warned.

We are living surrounded by elements, objects, lifeforms, simple or complex systems, arranged apparently by chance. But if we take a look with the right focus, detail and depth we can see that these elements and their particles inside have sometimes an orderly behaviour, even making patterns that extend to infinity.

In virtual environments and systems, the generation, modulation and use of particles provide the simulation and prediction of behavior in fields like science and art. This album, in the sound part, as in the visual, is also part of that proof.

We are very proud to welcome another daydreamers series guest, a boss-man behind Drivecom label - Boris Divider. This is a live recording of his a/v performance in Madrid in February 2014. 

After more than a decade walking on a  club oriented electronic music, Boris is now turning his sound into a new stage where experimental electronica, audiovisual performance and audio/video synchronism gets an important role.

Everything is arranged in an environment where he plays an improvisation in each moment as if it was an all-in-one audiovisual instrument. A full man-machine interface relationship. From slow progressive tracks, to pseudo-industrial, drone, digital error, analog synth line, past, present, future... living in an endless renewed state.

Artificial Domain presents a new output via Boris Divider.

Exascale computing is near, scientific community in Europe tries to reach this specification to simulate the human brain at neural level on supercomputers via the HBP (human being project) based in Geneva - Switzerland with more than a decade of researching.

The systems based on Exascale technology will be capable of at least one exaFLOPS, or a billion billion calculations per second. After this achievement, the biological human brain will become obsolete.

The next @DarkScienceElectro premiere comes from Zeta Reticula (@umek) via @BlindAllies

Slovenian electro master Zeta Reticula has been on the rampage over the past few years, spraying machine funk bullets all over the shop on labels like Electrix and Mechatronica. Now the man otherwise known as Umek lands on the rapid-rising Latvian label Blind Allies with the first dedicated artist EP after a string of various artist 12"s. The vibe is nocturnal and noirish across these five bombs, staying true to both the Reticula sound and Blind Allies. There are plenty of playful synth blips and bleeps wriggling their way through the mix too - this is far from morose dungeon electro, but something more like mutant body poppers for darkened souls.

PREMIERE: Zeta Reticula - UFO Believers (Blind Allies)

Switching within digital binaries, analogue flux, and all forms of degradation in between, a creature is kickstarted to life, as if awoken with locomotion's full might. Helena Hauff delivers a mix for Tresor's Kern series, lashing together a sound world with a potent barrage of industrial dance music.

Scorched-earth missives attract metals and mining chemicals, leaving little in its wake but aggravated and chaotic experiments of lateral hypotheses in acid brine. Like a hyperloop through this labyrinth, this high-velocity future is both beautiful and evil, glinting embers through low-bit fogged-out clusters. 100 metre-high aluminium pylons vibrate, each captivated by their electrified foundations. There is no place for dust to settle on the floor. Where a loose TB-tribalism knocks switches and pounds upward synaptic shocks, life down there is too rapid. Not to be taken lying down, this is the viable path forward without the shackles of turgid passivity. The effect is no less thrilling than crucial, as it presents an essential DJ of our times.

Settling into swift 150bpm groove, Hauff ploughs through shepherd-tone electro, ghetto bumps, and grizzled techno. A new collaborative track with Morah plays a rough game of meter, with Hauff's signature sound clear as ever ripping apart new dimensions with a brutal disorder over deceptive bass synths. The visceral crunch of the present is no more clear than at the halfway point, a threshold in which the breakneck electro falls apart, with the rabid foam of Nasenbluten's ballsy gabber anthem Intellectual Killer. Slowly more room to breathe comes into view, the pace drawn down revealing a strange sense of resolution, with expansive synths hinting at a beckoning euphoria. At this moment, Helena Hauff is clearly in full stride, uniquely melding fragile machinations against anarchic human interventions.

Kern Vol.5 releases June 19th 2020, on 2CD, as well as a 3×12″ vinyl edition highlighting the rare and exclusive cuts found in the mix, packed in a full color gatefold sleeve, featuring exclusive photography.

The release of Kern Vol.5 mixed by Helena Hauff, will be celebrated on July 24th at Tresor in Berlin, featuring DJ sets by Helena Hauff, DJ Godfather, Morah, Privacy and live shows from Volruptus and L.F.T., as well as special secret guests.

Boris Divider AV/Live at Oscilacion II Aniversary

Norwegian-Algerian artist Karima F (@karimakarima) doesn't fit in with the usual Scandi-disco stereotype. After many years of work on her local scene in Oslo, she broke out into the wider European scene playing soul, hi NRG disco, broken house, hammering breakbeats and plenty more. She holds down resident duties at Jaeger Club and also famously runs Schloss records from a defunct Porsche repair shop together with Ida Ekblad. "I want to be traumatised to work," she has said before, which explains her often dark, heads down approach to making you dance.

There is a lot packed in to her far-travelling mix, which is every bit for listening to as much as it is for dancing. From the kinked techno rhythms of the first half to the spoken word oddities at the mid point via loose limbed drum work scattered in between, Karima twists and turns her way through a leftfield world of sound that is very much her own.

It is no stretch to say that Sao Paulo's Trepanado is at the heart of the Brazilian music scene. His Selvagem party is one of the most influential in terms of the sounds it pushes, and his label Selva Discos is also hugely respited for the sounds it curates. Trepanado himself has also put out a vital compilation for Hello Sailor Recordings that spotlighted Brazil's Street Soul sound of the late eighties and early nineties. As a DJ he joins the dots between those classic niches and the contemporary electronic landscape thanks to his tireless devotion to digging for wax. 

This multi-genre maestro distills also his considerable know how into a lively carnival mix that oozes  Brazilian charm in the bird calls, whistles and Spanish vocals, but also seems to reference UK rave culture, traditional Latin rhythms and throwback house music. It's a full flavour, fully bumping mix that makes that feeling of being in the middle of an outdoor dance floor on a hot summer's day feel tantalisingly close.
