Raised in New Orleans Jake Basquiat is a Music Producer and Performer known for his unique blend of Hip Hop drums and electronic ethereal synths. His quick rise to notoriety in New Orleans began with the creation of a recording studio and artist residency (Materialinstitute.org) funded by The Museum of Old and New Art (MONA) from Tasmania Australia. There he produced countless albums for local artists, and his music has been featured on the BBC Radio 4 Documentary “Art of Now” “A New School for New Orleans” Hosted by Clara Amfo. The Great Raw, a vanguard in the Trap Metal/Rage Core scene, celebrates his birthday on January 27th. He’s the mastermind behind DV4L (DvrkVybez 4 Life), a “Dark family” collective that evolved from T.G.O, embodying his avant-garde philosophy.

His music is an alchemy of metal-infused sonics and horrorcore, with a dash of witch house from the future. The Great Raw shatters genre boundaries, melding hip-hop’s swagger with the raw power of heavy metal and punk, all while threading through the rebellious spirit of Nü metal and Rap Metal.

With a sound as gritty as trap metal 2.0, The Great Raw intertwines metal’s ferocity with trap’s rhythm and rap’s poetry. More than a musician, he’s a prodigious songwriter and producer, crafting hits like:

Beyond the stage, The Great Raw’s life is a testament to resilience. A native of Cincinnati, Ohio, he’s triumphed over homelessness thrice and spent his formative years in the vibrant Washington, DC, Maryland, and Virginia metroplex.

Sugarbeats Laboratory was founded and created by our founder Jason Sugarbear Mitchell in 2012 as a creative project to help people who wanted to learn the basics of playing music. Originally from California now residing in New Orleans, Ca Sugarbear has been tearing up dance floors one floor at a time. Sugarbear is resident DJ at Flyy By Nite which is New Orlean's late night EDM night featuring such acts as BARE, Mayhem, AFK, Caked Up, Mutrix and much much more.
