JOIA - Halcyon [OMUK002]

From the Mouth of the Sun return to film music with the original score for the documentary short “A Broken House” (directed by Jimmy Goldblum) about Syrian architect and artist Mohamad Hafez.

Dag Rosenqvist and Aaron Martin evoke the feeling of a person attempting to recapture a home that no longer exists with their core instruments of piano, cello, pump organ, bowed banjo, and others. This release features the complete film score along with additional tracks only available on the soundtrack.

"Wanderlust" started out as a cinematic sketch, with the intention of it being a birthday gift. It was never meant to end up on the EP, however, after some experimentation I liked the track so much that I decided to append it to the existing tracks and make it the 5th on the EP.

„Als ich mit dem Songwriting angefangen habe, hat das Klavier eine wichtige Rolle beim Zugang zu meiner Kreativität gespielt. Es ist ein Symbol für meine ästhetische Wahrnehmung der Musik. Besonders die Leichtigkeit der softeren Töne harmoniert sehr gut mit meiner Musik. Schon ein paar Tastendrücke können so viel ausdrücken, das können nicht viele Instrumente. In vielen meiner Songs benutze ich das Klavier und in einigen ist es sogar das Schlüsselinstrument."
