Somov Records head Ignez is up next with an unmissable techno number that’ll make you sweat. A younger self dropped the stuffy confines of his childhood on the Dutch coast and fled to Berlin as so many do, and there began to cultivate a sound that has placed him firmly among some of his talented and much talked about peers. The DJ/producer credits the seaside upbringing with instilling a deep respect for the rolling tides and endless sands, natural references that are deeply embodied in his hypnotising and immersive rhythms. His occasional return to home turf as resident of Amsterdam-based party series Eerste Communie has also played a significant role in his musical development and found him willing publishers in the likes of Token and SK_eleven, as well as a sparring partner in Berlin heavyweight Rødhåd (with whom he shares two EPs). It’s techno in purest form, bewitching loops that pulsate like those long ago shores. In that sound his ascetic beats are flanked by the most minimal detail and rely on raw percussive might to mesmerise his listener. A dancefloor portal to another world; transcendent stuff for sure. From small club settings to festivals on a larger scale Ignez brings a kind of magic that’s hard to turn a deaf ear to, Bassiani Podcast 220’s proof that he’ll pull those tricks at home too. A hour of virgin, mechanical beats that daze and enthral, a staunch reminder of techno’s visceral power and of why, for so many, it’s such a ruling passion.

Bulgarian-born, Oslo-based talent Kameliia’s sound leaves little room for misunderstanding. It’s ghostly, powerful and mesmerising stuff that leans on a wealth of inspiration from peers and the likes of Burial’s shadowy UK dubstep. Having studied music for four years, the production of sounds comes naturally, and on the dancefloor she’s given the space to test those personal and unreleased experiments in situ; that feedback is part of the process. Her sets too follow a formula, and a narrative thread that builds from more sparsely populated compositions to maximal, high-intensity techno, a vertical trip of the purest calibre. The threatening and world-shaking sounds she’s come to be known for have coalesced into a number of well-received productions, and made her a solid collaborator for names such as Amotik, Rødhåd and Setaoc Mass; it would be hard to imagine better company for the work she’s doing. Her cavernous and highly spiritual sound is soaked in gritty textures and characterized by a generous dosing of formidable bass, enough to get blood-flowing and her calendar packed with names like Berghain, Fold, Fuse and essaim. It is great to be back with another edition of the Drone Podcast. First off, we would like to thank Chris Koegler for his great piece of music he delivered. Make sure to check his set incase you have missed it. You can find all the links on our website and Facebookpage.

Amsterdam, hometown of our next Techno Minded Hero. This Hero is one the founders of the event called Eerste Communie (stands for: First Communion). Together with his partner in crime ’Skar’ they have organized a number of great events in and around our beloved city Amsterdam. One of those well known party’s were held on very special location. As a partygoer your were dancing your feet of on a boat. Floating around in a intimate setting with some proper Techno. In collaboration with’’Strak’they brought ’Nachtvaren’ to live with succes and immediatly made name for themselves. They had some great names on the roster like: Drumcell, Bram Fidder, YYYY, Alfredo Mazzilli, Saam, and offcourse Skar, to name a few.

Our next Techno Minded Hero played in the a lot of Amsterdam’s known clubs like: ClubNL, Panama, Sugarfactory, Westergasterras and many more. We are pretty sure that we will be hearing more from this talented hero.

And we are glad to have him on the show.

For this weeks podcast he granted us a mix that takes well over an hour of rolling minimalistic deep sounds, jungle percussions and pumping kicks.

Biography
The name MARRON comes from the Maroons of Surinam. These were just arrived slaves in Surinam who resisted to be marked as a slave, and escaped into the jungle to live as free people. Until this day the Maroons are still living in Surinam and are very much respected and known as people with a strong character. This is what MARRON is all about, the rolling minimalistic deep sounds, jungle percussions and direct kicks at high tempo, are there to notice and should be recognizable with a strong character as well.
