Rumination, reflection, return. Such is the vernacular of winter, a moment to exhale, to glance behind as well as ahead. To commemorate this precious time we have a very special guest this month. Slam are so integral to electronic music culture that they hardly need an introduction. With over 100 releases under their belt, they have enthused the eager ears of their audience for over three decades and are still going strong today. Their label, Soma Records, has established itself as a consistent output of world-class music, while their weekly podcast series, Slam Radio, is arguably one of the most respected around. 

Normally found roaming the rougher-tinged arenas of music with harsh, jacking rhythms, here they have smoothed out their sound and gone down an alternative path. Serving as the first half of a two-part mix, Slam have once again showcased the breadth of their musical knowledge. Soaring through valleys of angelic synths and sighing strings, they arrive at a place at once familiar and yet completely foreign, concealed through passages of morphing, static noise. A truly engaging listen, and one perfectly fitting for this current moment of restless tranquility.

Arkada Records is happy to present the 045 episode of our podcast series this month mixed and selected by a very special person to us and a true pioneer in the electronic music scene in UK.
Dj, producer, musician and a visual artist, the label owner of the well respected DRONE label - Richard Fearless 
We are extremely excited to welcome and present to our followers one of the Richard’s great talents with this absolutely stunning mix he created for us.His skills, professionalism and steadiness is what has impressed us so much.
A true artist who has dedicated most of his live to create, divert  and engage through sound In the most astonishing way that only a real musician can deliver.
In this mix you will have the pleasure to enjoy a various of styles going from Electro to Techno/Acid and beyond.Something that is definitely not to be missed!

Bio:
Richard Fearless, DJ/producer/musician/visual artist’s sets are marked not one genre, but a signature sound; a commonality and cohesive narrative that runs throughout.
Fearless began as resident DJ at the Job Club in London’s Soho during the 1990s, where he’d play alongside Claude Young, Derrick May, Dave Angel and Andrew Weatherall. After a few years he was picked as a resident for the legendary Heavenly Social. He has remixed Yoko Ono, Conny Plank, the Horrors, Daniel Avery, Ike Yard, Big Youth and Tikiman. 
While Fearless’ DJ sets and his Death in Vegas output have typically fallen into different genres, over the last few years he has begun to knit the two more closely together. Since 2014, Fearless has ran his own label Drone and released tracks and remixes by the likes of Chris & Cosey, DJ Richard, Legowelt,  Silent Servant, D’Marc Cantu, Gabe Gurnsey (Factory Floor) and Rudolf Klorzieger (Dopplereffekt)
Bonding over a love of Throbbing Gristle in 2016 Fearless collaborated with Sasha Grey to release a raw, visceral techno album, Transmission to much critical acclaim and has continued to push his work in a more abstract insular direction culminating in last years 'Future Rave Memory.

Welcome to the world of Drone, a London-based label founded by producer, artist and Death In Vegas guiding light Richard Fearless. An outlet for dancefloor distortion and other musical explorations. Created in the Metal Box, Drone will release oscillations in many forms. 

For this, the debut outing Richard Fearless lays the mandate in the form of Higher Electronic States - proto-techno, peaktime acid. Analogue electronics, hammer-horror strings underpinned with drums to blow apart any floor. This is music made for very dark, smoke filled rooms with absurd lazers.

Crème Organization & M>O>S Recordings mainstay D’Marc Cantu picks up remixes duties on the flip toning things down in tempo but certainly not tension. This is deep, brooding, suspense filled slow-motion techno creating a wholly satisfying first taste of the meal that is Drone.

As per its penchant for cyberdelic enigmas, Jimmy Edgar’s Ultramajic outpost is building a core of secretive producers. After closing out 2014 with a record from unknown newcomer Crystal Bandito, the label will return in 2015 with an offering from semi-anonymous beatmaker Aden. The tracks on Tanz, which is the German word for "dance", are hewn from bouncing drums, vocal yelps, glittering keys, and a few functional white noise-infused breakdowns that pack a solid dose of energy and spirit. "Tanz 1 – Lieb" is a gentle intermission from the EP’s intense vitality, with warm and soft pads that lay the foundation for blunted percussion. From rigid pumpers to soothing textures, the Tanz EP contains a range of moods to fuel human bodies on the virtual dance floors of a digital future.

Stepping Stones

Jesse Perez not only published already on labels such as I'm A House Gangster and Hot Creations, on his own imprint Mr. Nice Guy Records the man from Miami released stuff with titles like "This Hoe Gonna Get Some Dick“ or "Slangin' That D“. Damn right, the American producer and DJ call a spade a spade and is following his own style since several years now. After he returned Ellen Aliens "The Kiss“ (BPC265) with a Caribbean-tinged remix last year, Perez will debut with his first "THOT EP“ on BPitch Control. 
Perez himself calls his style Bump-N-Grind. And the title track shows already why: "THOT“ is one of those perfect Miami tracks with a wicked bass line and lots of old school driven hip-hop attitude, to which you can actually dance pretty contagious. Just as "Divine Intoxication“. Here a circular bass line moves around with a lascivious verve while Perez demonstrates his passion for direct percussion and nasty rhythms. The melodic addition isn’t new to his game, but a hallmark of his productions. The last track "Bukkake Challenge“ closes the EP not only with some animal madness – in the true sense of the word – but reinforces once again why Perez’ productions are the perfect choice for people who listen to hip-hop and also enjoying House Music.
