now I’m just trying to catch my breath.
Half-empty hearts, full of plans we broke,
laughing loud through the cigarette smoke.
I see those ghosts in rearview glass,
and damn, I’d chase them back.

I’d tell him it all still hurts —
but it’s worth the blood.
