“The worst disease to plague mankind is mass amnesia. At some point near the beginning, we had forgotten who we are and where we came from. And with every generation that passes, we forget a little bit more. Replacing our identity with modern man’s constructs. Occupations, professions, crafts, relationships, and status. All desperate attempts to fill the subconscious void left by those before us. We externalize God and internalize emotions and logic. We put up walls between each other and within ourselves, building life into a labyrinth. A damning maze in which there is no end. In which the beginning cannot be found.”

“It was difficult at first, definitely. But it’s been getting easier and easier. The hardest part at first was answering the questions. And then once I found the answers, the hardest part was coming to terms with them. Everything else after that became very straight-forward. The answers were all the same. All my responsibility. All of the why this and why that were because of me. I did it to myself. I made it this way. And I’ve accepted my fate. So whatever comes next will also be from my own doing. And at least this time around, I’m well aware.”

“There are two universal truths about this place. Everything here is backwards. Everything here is upside down. And once we realize these truths and accept them into our hearts, we can begin to make sense of the chaos. This place begins to unravel upon itself. The dream fades into the distance. And only then can we move forward. Only then do we realize that we are not falling.”

“If I’m being honest, she barely knows me. Still, I can tell she thinks about me from time to time. And I can see the signs pulling us closer together. But I say to myself that the signs are misguided and a work of fantasy, and it’s not meant to be. And even though I can see what could be for us, I push it away. And I start forgetting. Everything I love about her. Everything she does that brings me to her. And I keep forgetting, until she’s just a stranger again. Until I barely know her. But if I’m being honest, I still think about her from time to time.”
