The Babani Records team continues its quest to restore forgotten archives. In 1977, Malaaz, a band from Reunion island, recorded Lélé and Malaazé in Paris with arranger Hervé Roy under the label "G.B Productions”. Helped by the magic of our sound engineer, Neil Combstock, we’ve delicately restored these two gems in collaboration with Patrick Donat, giving them an exciting second life. 

“Ina Malaaz”, words from Indian Ocean’s Madagascar would mean “What’s new?”

The band couldn’t have picked a better name for the project, positioning themselves as true innovators for the time, merging different sounds of the neighbour islands. 

Malaaz was initiated by Patrick Donat, who is described as a pioneer and major contributor of the Electric Maloya scene, this fusion of island traditional music and western instrumentation in the mid 70s. He was joined by Frank Raholison and Del Rabenja, creating this powerful band of exceptional musicians from Reunion Island and Madagascar. 

Lélé is a jazzy/soul track with a twist of Indian Ocean groove and is a fitting testament to the fusion of sounds of different worlds. 

Malaazé is a killer psychedelic soul – funk gem supporting sensational Malagasy vocals transporting you to the Indian Ocean.

HEARecs (@hearec) presents 'Acid Jungle EP' by Dos Locos (@sjrdx1behmmh). The young duo from Israel delivers a dynamic release with powerful leads and acid elements gravitating between dark disco and acid house. The EP is composed by two original tracks: Acid Jungle and Under Attack and the tracks have already been playing around the globe, receiving great response on the dancefloors of renowned festivals and clubs around the globe. The duo adds the house imprint to their release’s roster alongside our fellow labels Phisica and Ritual.

With a Dark Disco sounding introduction on the eponymous 'Acid Jungle' the listener slides smoothly to a more sinister register. The animal’s are let out during the build up to gather and the acid synths compiled with grooving snares and the vocals get you through this dancing adventure.

Imagine music that is as insisting as it it curious?! C.O.U. is back with an EP leaning on the Interrobang, the lesser known combination of a question mark and an exclamation point. It starts with the TRACK ID, a song about wondering about which track is played at a club, or maybe at some online event? It continues with tracks equally enjoyable for listening and dancing: faux-oriental disco, concerned boogie-funk, a cosmic take on the legendary Sleng Teng-riddim and finally a balkan-inspired track partly generated by Articial Intelligence. 

The Center of the Universe is an artist who mainly, but not only works with music and sound. 
The band, which is a solo project (hence the name) has released nearly 20 full length albums, plenty of remixes and also works for films, theathre and sound art.  

Following along with the Interrobangerz are videos to all five of them: these are not made for promotion but are meant as works in their own right. In fact it's the other way around; the music is supposed to promote the videos! At this point in the text it would be interesting to hear if you have any questions, not only about music, but questions in general? Somehing you have been thinking about recently that you would like to ask?! If so I will try to answer them as best as i can!
