CLR Podcast 255 – Kr!z

It is Monday the 13th of January 2014 and we have Kr!z back on the CLR Podcast with a generous two and a half hours long set. The founder of the internationally acclaimed Belgian imprint Token Records has used two turntables, two CDJ´s and one FX to mix together 51 tracks into this excellent set, showing once more his great musical taste and outstanding DJ skills. The present podcast contains a mixture of older, classic pieces and brand-new material, including several exclusive, unreleased tracks such as upcoming Token releases by CTRLS and Rødhåd. Over the last decade, Kr!z has become a respected and established value in Belgium´s Techno scene and a resident-DJ for the legendary 'Kozzmozz' nights. Nowadays his DJ-schedule takes him all over the world and his label Token Records, which stands for timeless, uncompromising Techno, can look back on released tracks and remixes by numerous of the most respected players in the scene.

It's been over thirty years since house and techno music exploded out of South Side Chicago and inner-city Detroit, and most Americans still don't know their dance music history. In 1977 a DJ named Frankie Knuckles moved to Chicago to spin and remix disco records at an underground club called The Warehouse. Out of a fringe subculture that formed there - gay and African-American - house music would emerge to become one the biggest club music genres in the world. Meanwhile, young black futurists of Detroit channeled their city's post-industrial decay into a utopian machine music known as techno. In this Hip Deep episode, Afropop travels to Chicago and Detroit to explore the past and future of electronic music. Through dozens of interviews with seminal house and techno producers - including Paul Johnson, Vince Lawrence, Juan Atkins, and Carl Craig - as well as scholars, radio DJs and party promoters, we'll find out how two chilly mid-western cities taught the world to dance.  Produced by Marlon Bishop and Wills Glasspiegel.

Founder of Diffuse Reality Records, a record label which started up in his native country of Argentina, Rodrigo himself, is now currently operating out of Barcelona in Spain. His first album titled 'Tournefortia (sub​-​d41)' which was recently released on Subsist Records, provides many examples of his talented production skills with plenty more music to follow the future looks promising. Welcome back to The Poeticast, this week we play host to a very special guest and one that has been a long while in the making. But it was worth the wait as Rodrigo Garcia gifts us a mix to behold, it is recorded live from Moog Club Barcelona earlier this month.

Hailing from Argentina, acid artisan and Diffuse Reality Records figure Rodrigo Garcia has quickly ingrained himself in the Spanish techno scene in the last five years. With rhythmic sets at Sala Instinto in Barcelona, as well as memorable sets at Stuttgart and Tresor in Berlin, Garcia has quickly risen through the ranks of producer and DJ into a special, yet still very understated, niche of progressive and hard-pounding techno.

My music can span everything from deep house to full throttle techno, and hopefully touches on some of the music I have been interested in over the course of time so far. This set was more floor focused recorded as a warm up for the Eastern Bloc Christmas party in December 2018. Hope you enjoy it!'
