Dreamer

For those who were asking what the mysterious mix that was put on after the DJs stopped playing outside at the Life and Death party in Art Basel, here it is. A mellow trip prepared by Greg from Thugfucker and presented here as a little thank you from all of us at Life and Death. 

It's been an amazing year and we're so very appreciative of all the support we've gotten as we've adventured forwards on this incredible musical trip together. We've got lots of exciting things planned for the year ahead (and beyond!) and we look forward to continuing together on this ride wherever it takes us.

One sentence to summarise his music. A music to summarise a journey. A sound to create a universe. And this EP to act as a logbook written in the calm and terrifying embrace of the cosmos. That is how we can qualify the way Dorian adopts his music or lets himself be adopted. An authentic musician far distanced from mainstream medias to find his own voice, his own touch, and always willing to surpass his own accomplishments. If we had to summarise his music, we would “only” have to say that it takes us by the gut and soothe our mind until we’re somewhere else, perhaps in outer space.

After multiple releases, Netpune went into exile with his music for a while to get the best out of it. Today, he comes back and presents an all-new opus that will surely take your breath away.

This logbook is divided in three portions like stars of a constellation he followed to come back home. The journey was not made alone since he was accompanied by the lovely voice of the English singer Clara La San. Some will be blown away and others will travel with Neptune, but the EP guarantees an unearthly experience.

After having worked on many large commercial projects throughout 2015 with Sony Music and Universal Records, being nominated for several Juno Awards, winning the SOCAN Awards 2015 Dance Record of the Year, nominated for Sirius XM Radio Music Awards Dance Act of the Year, going Number 1 on the Billboards in 5 countries, and having a double platinum record of my own song ‘Goodbye’ feat. Islove, it was important for me to musically reach back to my underground house roots.  Getting lost in a sea of A&R’s and indecision-makers, and going through an entirely new process of commercial record writing - with session musicians, vocalists, lyricists etc. - it was the opposite world of writing that I made my records (and success) from many years ago.  I needed to take a break and get back to writing these instrumental pieces where the riffs ARE the vocal lines, and the vibe was a sort of hypnotic mysticism mixed with late night mind bending chasers. ‘Into The Deep’ is a celebration of forward thinking progressive house music - a dash of eccentric and brash synth melodies juxtaposed with bright uppity grand piano chords and warped out arpeggiations.  This is a cohesive body of music here and I wrote this all from around August of 2015 until October (around 3 months).  I used a custom series 80 Neve console to get that wide character and the whole piece just really glued together with my mixing approach on this one.  I love the synth feel and the texture to those sounds - it’s really perfect for late night dark room mash out venues.  I hope you enjoyed this album as much as I did writing it and if you can give your feedback that helps me very much!
