Sauga City, Canadian native “DRU” drops the official music video for his single Don’t Be Afraid. Shot and directed by Frenzy Fredie Hamdan in Vancouver, Canada the R&B/Hip-hop singer & songwriter is aiming to release his new EP Chapters early in 2017. Influenced by the likes of Michael Jackson and Donny Hathaway DRU considers himself a true student of the art form and hopes to inspire others with his new forthcoming project.

Revolutionary. Unstoppable. These are fitting words
to describe Dru, the R&B/Soul/Pop singer & songwriter. “A soulful vibe
comes through in everything I do,” says Dru, whose musical influences
include Usher, Marvin Gaye, D’Angelo, Jodeci, and Stevie Wonder.
Dru’s first solo album, The One, which was released in 2008, earned
critical acclaim, including 3.5 out of 4 stars from the Toronto Star
newspaper. The first three singles, “The One”, “Stay with Me (Always)”,
and “Seasons” garnered strong chart positions at CHR/Top 40 and Hot AC
radio stations across Canada.
 The One was also released in Japan on JVC.
Born Andrew Omar Grange, Dru grew up in Mississauga along with his
three older brothers and one younger sister, where the qualities of
dedication, perseverance, and solid work ethic were instilled by his
mechanic father and nurse mother.
After years of developing his vocal talent, Dru’s early success came during
his time as lead singer of the R&B group In Essence, whose debut album
The Master Plan earned a JUNO Award, MuchMusic Award, and a
SOCAN #1 Award (for the club hit, “You Will Never Find”) In 2004.
After the group parted ways in 2007, Dru’s artistic reinvention was
bolstered by a tiny, but powerful source – his daughter and biggest
supporter, now 11, to whom he credits being the engine behind his drive to
make it as a solo artist.
Although he enjoyed the group dynamic of In Essence, and the special
moments shared with his fellow group members, and friends since high
school, Dru is now well settled into his comfort zone as a solo artist. “I’m
really enjoying being able to put out my own vision and my own sound “ my
own voice, ”says Dru. Working with a team of hit making
songwriters and producers motivated Dru to take his talent to a new level
and increased his desire to reach a broader audience both as a singer and
as a songwriter. Dru demonstrated his versatility as a vocalist when he was
featured on Doman & Gooding’s high energy Dance hit single, “Runnin” in
2009, which earned him another JUNO nomination for “Dance Recording
of The Year”.
Songwriting ace Rupert Gayle (Shiloh, Keshia Chanté, maxi priest ), super
producer Alex Greggs (*NSYNC, Britney Spears, Shakira), and platinum
songwriter Evan Bogart (Beyoncé, Rihanna, Jason Derulo) cowrote
a number of tracks for Dru’s second album On The Brink. Drus album “On The Brink included his smash hit singles, “ Gettin it in” and “She Can Ride” both singles earned Dru a Gold Plaque for selling over 50,000 digital downloads each with a combined amount of over 100,000 digital downloads. The third single released from On the Brink was called “Love Collision” which earned Dru another JUNO nomination in 2014 for reggae recording of the year.
In 2014 Dru put out “Deja vu”, produced by heavy hitters Baseline and
Kuya productions. “Deja vu” also earned Dru another JUNO nomination for
R&B Soul Recording of the year this past april 2016 at the Junos in
Calgary. Over the past 6 months Dru has recorded about 30 new songs for his new EP set to be to released 2018. “I’m so excited for this
new project, i have definitely taken it back to where i started, soulful
emotional r&b music”, Dru says. 2016 Don’t be Afraid”, Written by Dru and his
new producer Steve “Hollywood” was released and to date has over 700k streams on spotify and over 500k views on youtube.
