Druid Recordings has paved the way for independent imprints over recent months, proving that their influence is only set to grow following their successive stream of releases. And the next step of their journey continues with a brand new double sided single, provided by Kaiza, St4sh & Lower Bass, an outfit who were brought together by their commitment to the drum & bass scene’s gloomier depths. ‘Click’ and ‘Ghosthack’ drop you straight into choppier waters, demonstrating Druid’s penchant for the darker sounds which the genre has to offer. By bringing a host of newcomers onto the roster, they also highlight an unbridled A&R capability, moving out with the heavier weights and still managing to hold their own amongst the tides.  
 
‘Click’ begins on a sonically orchestral intro, with crackling mechanics making themselves known underneath the mix. Smacking drum beats and guttural LFO bass push their way through, taking you down to titanic levels and nodding their head to the strident minimalism prevalent amongst the label’s back catalogue. The track steps between each segment with a diligent hook, becoming more and more entrenched within its composition. Its modulated bass switches help to dice up the record, giving it a weighty feel by reverberating through to a domineering core of processes.  
 
Bringing you onto the next level is ‘Ghosthack’, beginning with a spectral quality and drawing through daintily on oldschool pads. A metallic set of layers helps to build the track before a moody melody moves through the cracks, becoming more and more pronounced amongst its diligent mixdown. Despite being relatives newcomers, Kaiza, St4sh and Lower Bass prove a fearsome set of standards, nodding to why they were sought after by a label like Druid. The track lulls with a snipped up, robotic vocal sample before once again jumping into life, taking you on its fearsome journey amongst a diligently crafted manufacturing line of beats. 
 
With both the artist and label, you’re made acutely aware of just how important independent music is to the health of its output. And alongside singles like the one provided for by Druid, they’ll become more and more of a defining part of its creative process.
