Welcome to Planet VIP. An exclusive collection of brand new remixes, VIP's and classic unreleased reworks. Taking in tracks from V Recordings, Liquid V, Chronic & Philly Blunt this project includes contributions from the whole of the V family, with tracks from the likes Roni Size, Dillinja, Eveson, DJ Krust, MC Fats & Kabuki all getting the Planet VIP treatment. 

On remix duties are some of the scenes finest producers including Nu:Tone, TC & Need For Mirrors, alongside some of the most exciting new artists to hit the scene in years like Unreal, Command Strange, DJ Chap, Dr Meaker and many more - this compilation fuses together the new and old with scintillating results!

Expertly mixed together by the original VIP selector Jumpin Jack Frost, this album takes the listener on a journey through many different styles of D&B, from the rolling liquid sounds, through to tough techy basslines, via some straight up dancefloor smashers, Planet V as always representing the full circumference.

Following a string of successful releases Krakota is back with a massive 14-track collection. ‘Strange System’ marries heavy distortion with razor-sharp clarity, crossing and colouring the black and white lines of drum & bass with his versatile style and slick production. His debut album stands tall and proud shouting his individual sound. Never underestimate Krakota, he’s full of surprises!

In ‘Colour The Past’ Krakota simultaneously tugs at the heartstrings and hits hard in the face with vocals brought by new finding Karina Ramage. The French-Scottish-English songwriter was a surprise find by label boss Chris Goss as he discovered her busking on London’s South Bank. Another clear highlight is his partnering with our second label boss for ‘Powder Coated’ - the perfect mix of London Elektricity soul and Krakota power.

‘Half Life’ is a reminder back to the massive dancefloor damage caused by ‘Ice Hands’, ‘Ghosts’ and ‘Xylo’ last year. Its gritty split of siren calls and deep bouncing bass hits in all the right places. Krakota's musical edge shows in ‘Elastic’ with funk flare and horns hailing. ‘North Winds’ and ‘Turn of Fate’ blend arcade style synth work with crackles of white noise.

A consistently brilliant producer, Krakota’s carved out his own style over the past few years getting his name noticed on dancefloors around the UK and Europe. He's received support from the likes of BBC Radio 1's Friction and well remembered for his tear out live mix on BBC Radio 1Xtra's Soundclash in 2015. His solitary stance in the drum & bass world has been making waves and that’s sure to continue with his outstanding debut album ‘Strange System’.

S.P.Y has been prolific of late returning to the vanguard of the drum & bass circuit with his ‘Alone In The Dark’ trilogy. He’s a man-turned-machine, firing out bass weapons from his Bristolian treasurecave of synths throughout 2017 all leading up to the final chapter, EP:3.

Opening track ‘Transmission’ is ready to cause disorder. Turning vocal hums into premium merkage with a deadly cocktail of percussion and electrostatic bassline that prove to be all the ingredients required for the ultimate floorfiller.

‘Dominator Mode' is a primal tech-stepper, bringing classically rugged drum & bass stylings well and truly into the contemporary realm. Rustic and tribal with a distorted vocal sample sitting top, manufactures a truly dystopian audio atmosphere.

We all dare to dream but S.P.Y appears to bring these feint fantasies into reality. Reaching for his alter-ego classic liquid movements, the pertinently named ‘Dreaming’ pictures a cosmic landscape with astral synths, a majestic key-lead hook, distant vocals and wistful melodies.

Now it wouldn’t be a S.P.Y release without that signature grit. Fear not, this is delivered in ‘Hardcore Harry’. Latin chic breaks are met by jagged sounds and the warmest of sub licks - this anthem is a wall-to-wall banger. Equally, there’s the full flux of ‘Lockdown’ with sci-fi bleeps and wired rhythms that follow an up front lyrical injection before the climactic drop.

They say three’s a crowd but they couldn’t be more wrong with S.P.Y seeing his ‘Alone In The Dark’ trilogy off this October and ending on a high.

Juho Kavasto and Sainey Gibba, aka Askel & Elere, return to Soulvent as exclusively signed artists - fresh for 2021 with a diverse 2-track single to kick off their year. The pair continue to deliver cleverly-crafted dance music with their own unique sound and approach, resulting in drum and bass that’s perfectly at home on dancefloors and devices alike. 

A-side ‘Get Up’ features robotic vocals, a washy synth pad and chest-plate kicks culminating in an absolute disco destroyer of a track. Chunky, guttural bass swells clatter against metallic vocal chops and ethereal pads in a driving cacophony that will have you making a beeline for the nearest dancefloor pronto, albeit your living room will suffice for now! 

‘Nothing More (feat. YENIAS)’ offers more cerebral engagement on the flip, featuring Sainey’s previously utilised yet first credited vocal stylings, under his YENIAS alias. Big bass backed by twinkling textures and melting harmony provide the perfect platform for Elere’s longing vocal phrases. The track’s melodic elements, including an awesome detuned synth-whistle, deftly explore the track’s tonality, providing a dense, multi-layered aural experience.

At this sedentary time of year, we urge you to get up off your backside and we wish nothing more than to see you diving into some fresh fare from our favourite Finnish export from February 5th.
