Low Performance - Call Of Cthulhu 

Almost exactly a year ago we presented you the first edition of a compilation that should unite almost every Drum and Bass subgenre on one sampler. The integrative idea is so appealing that we now follow up with volume 2 and want to present a selection of tracks with different styles again. The protagonists represented here also result in a colorful potpourri of national, transregional and international artists, some of whom have already made a name for themselves on other labels in the meantime. And so we are pleased that some of the producers are represented twice here, such as Scurrow, who provides the framework for the release with his two very different works. His remix for Bassface Sascha’s “Inside The Rabbit Hole (feat. Trinity)” sets the pyramid on fire right at the start of the compilation. Escape impossible! “There Is No Wifi In The Jungle” marks the end: a breaky jungle slammer for heads that want it percussive and can stand a lot of bass as well. In between, of course, there are also techy tracks, e.g. by Clusta, who can add a VIP crown to his mighty “Cave Of Evil”. With Gisix we have a true debutant who sets a real exclamation mark with his expansive “Poppy” including sawtooth synth! Another slammer comes from new signing Kontrakt from Finland. “Network” is a hectic number, metaphorically speaking somewhere between tangled cables and stressed office colleagues. Low Performance also made his debut for us and is here with the grinding “Call Of Cthulhu” that would make every tunnel drill green with envy. The deeper pieces come once again from the favorite Italian Petarda, with Elektronik VIP soaring up to an uplifting sound aesthetic and Petarda actually only initiates us into one of his another dark sound secrets with “Nostalgy”. Demolishing the sound barrier once again, Identity Records present two tracks from none other than Gravital. Known for his high octane productions that feature everything from throbbing deep minimal to explosively heavy rollers, he has crafted two fresh cuts that push the stripped back sounds to a new level - fusing the deepest side of the genre with a searing style of production, it holds nothing back in its powerful delivery.    

Opening with a menacing weighty sub, “Tension” is fierce in both its rhythm and sound design. The rolling drums have a thick and crunchy energy, relentlessly driving the song forward with increasing fury as the song progresses. Bubbling Sci-fi stabs and a hypnotic screeching tone hover across the landscape, swirling about like a swarm of insects forever on the verge of attack. It's a relentless weapon filled with raw atmosphere and gut punching drums that'll stop you dead in your tracks. 

“Pulse” is a deep minimal workout: techy hat shuffles, haunting atmospheres, intense driving drums, and a ferociously deep sub combine to give this track its unique fervor. Each layer is infused to the brim with white-hot energy; colliding and competing in infinite duels for space, it creates an overwhelming wall of pressure that tears down everything in its path. Taking no prisoners, it amps the intensity to its absolute peak creating a speaker destroying tune like nothing heard before.

Continuing the saga, Addictive Behaviour's Rotation LP spins round once again bringing with it a multitude of talent from across the globe. Previous iterations of the esteemed Rotation series have featured a mix of rising and emerging artists alongside AB faves and regulars. This fourth instalment doesn't break tradition, bringing with it an abundance of fresh new names alongside some very recognisable pseudonyms.

However the one vast difference in this year's offering is the size of the album. The Rotation roster has certainly grown year on year, but where past editions have featured between 8 and 14 tracks this year's offering will be stacked to the brim with an epic 26 brand new cuts curated from over 30 top drawer, future thinking artists who each bring their own unique blend to the table.

Rotation Four is a colourful display of varied styles showcasing an inspiring array of music making skillsets but all of which express that familiar Addictive sound and high levels of production.
