Alan’s new single on Drumcode demonstrates exactly why Alan Fitzpatrick is a powerhouse within the techno scene. ‘The Tetra’ will enrapture the dance floor from the off with it’s brooding nature and syncopated claps. It pushes forwards with glistening highs before more melodic stabs join the equation and slowly the beautiful melodic phrase partakes in this outstanding piece of work. ‘We Are Forever Young’ finishes off the single with a slow burning after hour’s vibe that will keep the clubbers nodding. The third and final track ‘1992’ takes us back and has a tougher more energetic feel to it. With crunchy drums, a melodic synth and a catchy vocal hook this record is another Alan Fitzpatrick masterpiece.

Soma stalwart Harvey McKay is back with 3 more big room bombs in his Foreshadow EP backed with a thumping Frankyeffe remix. 2013 was one of the biggest in the Glasgow based producers career and some massive releases have helped propel him to the top of the Beatport charts and gained him a huge following throughout the techno community. With his big abrasive kicks and perfectly tuned synths and vocal cuts, Harvey has carved out a unique sound that is instantly recognisable.

Are You Real kicks things off in true Harvey style as a big groove works its way across deep synth hooks and chopped and melodic vocals. Punishing hi-hats and rides really make this track work as Harvey’s well-crafted sequence drops and kicks at just the right moments.

Harvey keeps things deep on Creep as a sinister rolling bass line meanders in to a small break pinned together by hypnotic vocals slices and stuttering, skipping percussion. Harvey keeps things looping perfectly and allows this track to build into and absolute monster by the time he hits out with all guns blazing.

Harvey rounds up his offerings on this EP with Sargon’s Birth. Another monster bass is funked up with crystal clear grooves and straight in your face, dance floor attitude. Almighty drops are the order of the day and Harvey serves them up by the pound.

Italian producer Frankyeffe take on Sargon’s Birth and turns in a big room powerhouse of a track. Keeping in the same vein of Harvey’s thumping low end, he pulls the synths out and gives them a real Detroit feel, keeping them short and stabby. This is one for those peak time hours for sure.

Harvey continues his excellent run of form with this EP and shows why he is one of Techno’s brightest stars.

A match made in groove heaven, both acts have long-since established a pedigree for timeless tracks. Complementing each other’s sonic sentiments like well-tailored suits, the three men initially collided in a Barcelona studio late last year. They enjoyed such a creative spree there’s a wealth of material about to come our way. And it starts here with these three seismic slabs of deep, rolling gold. Press play…

“Uniformal Processing” purrs with dub science. Once we’ve acquainted ourselves with the rolling techy drum dynamic, we’re introduced to an array of elements… A harrowed, heavily-processed vocal sample, eerie subtle synth textures and a bassline so rich in warmth and weight it initiates an organic swing that hypnotise any dancefloor within a five mile radius.

The theme of hypnosis is maintained throughout “9th Configuration”. Deeper, darker and more dramatic than the title track, it’s built on a bedrock of silky, slinky, detailed percussion and progressively builds by way of a dominant riser and sincere sub bass penetration. Through the darkness a shimmering arpeggio takes hold. Rippling and wriggling amid the elements it’s a quintessential balance of shades that twists, turns and teases throughout the eight minute adventure.

Last but definitely not least we hit “Something Happier”. Living up to its name, it departs from the heavier tech flavour of the previous two tracks and shuffles with a groovier, bass-led swing and a more uplifting set of synth colours. The drums gradually build with percussive clarity before we’re dropped into a blissfully light synth refrain which triggers an even funkier bassline twist and more infectious, hip-shaking rhythmic elements.
 
A beautiful way to conclude a beautiful EP. And just in case you need to be even happier… Let us remind you: there is more to come from this next-level partnership! We can’t wait to deliver it.

In the same vein as her recently launched MOOD imprint, Believe is suited to a number of atmospheres and settings. Across the nine original productions and one collaboration with label boss Adam Beyer, Nicole has crafted a sonically diverse long-player of sounds which draw on the plethora of styles electronic music has to offer. From her accustomed techno to twisted house and everything in-between, the stylistic variety on offer means cuts Believe will easily feature in more intimate settings and big-room venues alike. Believe features a host of tracks aimed squarely at the clubs. From the moody Movin On, the bass-heavy Do Your Thing, to the industrial techno grooves on Come And Lay and the hypnotic chanting vocal on Get On It, the techno-aficionados will not be disappointed with what is sublime set of cuts that will no doubt destroy any dance-floor. 

In contrast however, there are more intimate moments to be found. For example the rhythmically entrancing yet uplifting Fly With You, to Liberum Spirita with its mazy ethereal breakdown, and the synth-heavy percussive builder Lumière Tamisée. Nicoles further flexes her production muscle with the stripped back dub-flavours of Big Love With No Apology, and a robotic groove-laden funk on the standout Can I Get Some. Believe delivers a consummate body of work with which Nicoles considerable abilities in the studio are clear for all to hear. A wide-range of sounds that is sure to appeal to the idiosyncratic tastes of the various sub-sections of electronic music community. Furthermore, it lives up to the high-standards of previous Drumcode long-players and is an engrossing and impressive debut; and one that offers a smooth segue into the next chapter of an already exciting career.
