Bart Skils returns to Drumcode with his third solo release, ‘Shadowprint’. Consisting of Bart’s famous rolling drums and bass rhythms he has crafted an EP that is exceptionally functional. With each track Bart has added character by introducing vocals, interesting melodies and deep percussion to keep it interesting. The EP is made up of 3 peak time tracks that are eloquently put together. ‘My Part Of Town’ is a bit deeper from Bart and contrast’s well to the rest of the EP with it’s melodic bass line.

Adam Beyer’s new EP titled ‘Teach Me’ is an accomplished piece of work that highlights Beyer's year thus far. 'Teach Me' starts with some eerie chords before the distinctive vocal kick in and the track drops into a rumbling techno track. ‘Darlek’ uses rhythmic beeps and huge synth stab to create a funky rhythm before the atmospheric pads create a beautiful setting for this incredible techno track. ‘Stop Talking’ is a deeper offering from Beyer using weird and unusual noises to create and interesting piece of work that is helped along by the throbbing bass underlying in the track. ‘Spaceman’ uses a rhythmic vocal, percussion and sub bass to turn this track into a funky techno piece.

The rich vein of form displayed by emerging techno talent is similarly given prime position. Rising DJ/producer Boxia makes his Drumcode debut, fresh from a well-received warm up set for the crew at the hugely successful Junction 2 festival in London, while the likes of Enrico Sangiuliano, Juan Sanchez, Ian O'Donovan and Timmo also drop fire, establishing their credentials as some of the most promising talent breaking through the ranks in 2016. 

Reinforcing the global scope of the label, artists such as The Junkies from Toronto and Layton Giordani from New York, prove techno is winning a place in the heart of the new generation of artists coming out of North America.

After appearing on A-Sides Volume 4 at the start of 2016, Ilario Alicante now makes his full debut on the label. He has quickly established himself as a key player amongst a new crop of techno artists and truly is one of the brightest stars in the game. His skills behind the decks have seen him tour the globe with Cocoon, as well as appear at the likes of elrow, Lovefest and We Are FSTVL.

Opening with ‘Times’, the EP gets off to a flying start as the track rages straight into top gear, rolling through 6 minutes of pure power. This is a peak time tool that is set to be heard across dance floors worldwide this year. ‘Awakened’ you may have heard from Adam Beyer’s sets of late, a firm favourite which gets his much sought after seal of approval. Rampant syths and mesmerizing vocal hooks all make it one hell of a journey. ‘Sense’ is a more industrial affair, chunky basslines take your hand through the track as it charges on. It’s that classic deep Ilario Alicante sound we all know and love. The EP finishes off on ‘Apogeo’, with its hypnotic siren tones and acute percussion. There can be little doubt as to the influence Alan Fitzpatrick has had on the current Drumcode sound. A consistent provider of musically inventive techno that takes its inspiration from a wide palette of influences; Fitzpatrick tracks are immediately recognizable for their refusal to conform to the norm. This latest release, the subject of much hype and anticipation, is no different. Lead track, ‘Skeksis’ conjures up an unlikely fusion of a pumped-up dub techno groove and a 90’s Trance vocal to create a slow-burning, emotive bomb, while ‘For An Endless Night’ rolls out a steady driving rhythm that provides the backdrop for a distinctive chiming melody to sweep in and take over.
