<p>It&#8217;s time for Sasha Carassi&#8217;s &#8220;Echoes&#8221; from a few months ago to receive remix treatment, and Skober&#8217;s interpretation is up first and focuses on the melodic elements of the Original but cleverly adds moody synths which add to the overall epicness of the affair, especially in the grandiose breakdown. Layton Giordani is up next with his trademarked shadowy sound and impeccable arrangement, offering yet another angle of attack. Last but not least are Loco &amp; Jam dubbing things out with bursts of references to the original in key moments, while maintaining a rocksteady vibe sprinkled with discordant stabs.</p>

Adam Beyer’s Drumcode juggernaut attracts more fans and critical plaudits with each passing year. Holding firm on its future facing ethos, techno’s number one label presents a new volume in its acclaimed A-Sides series with 20 prime tracks to signify its 20th anniversary. 

Such is the volume of quality music Adam Beyer receives throughout the course of the year, releasing all of it would be impossible. Enter the blue chip A-Sides series: a chance for the quality-obsessive label head to issue a collection of outstanding tracks that couldn’t fit in their regular EP release schedule. 

With an eye on future talent, as much as the label’s established roster of heavy-hitters, the compilation showcases the full breadth of Drumcode’s multifaceted techno sound, equal parts inspiring and functional. 

Led by the stealth techno funk of ‘Nine of You’, Beyer’s deft collaboration with Mark Reeve, the compilation takes in exciting highlights from big guns such as Alan Fitzpatrick, Dustin Zahn, Bart Skils, Pleasurekraft, Luca Agnelli, Jay Lumen, Kaiserdisco and Gary Beck. 

The rich vein of form displayed by emerging techno talent is similarly given prime position. Rising DJ/producer Boxia makes his Drumcode debut, fresh from a well-received warm up set for the crew at the hugely successful Junction 2 festival in London, while the likes of Enrico Sangiuliano, Juan Sanchez, Ian O’Donovan and Timmo also drop fire, establishing their credentials as some of the most promising talent breaking through the ranks in 2016. 

Reinforcing the global scope of the label, artists such as The Junkies from Toronto and Layton Giordani from New York, prove techno is winning a place in the heart of the new generation of artists coming out of North America.

2017’s first Drumcode release comes in the form of chart topping regular Julian Jeweil, who’ll be putting out his first solo effort on the label. Jeweil’s ‘Rolling EP’ showcases his skill as a producer and kicks off with the emphatic title track ‘Rolling’. The perfect soundtrack for the early hours in the club, this sweaty affair proves just why he’s at the top of the game right now. ‘Venice’ and ‘Blue’ illustrate his signature sound to a tee, with the EP’s final track ‘Traffic’ an acid-tinged behemoth, guaranteed to light up any set.

Having already graced the label this past summer with their Cosmic Techno stunner "The Ark" - UK duo Spektre return to the Kraftek family with a blistering 2 tracker that requires little in the way of an introduction. The title track - hit's the musical bulls eye of exactly what we here at the label are all about. The flip side - easily strong enough to merit A-Side status gives an homage to the rave days of old - aptly named "Recall 90".  We are proud to kick off 2018 with all engines set to full blast on our cosmic journey with Spektre's "Another Life EP".

The seventh volume of Drumcode’s annual A-Sides compilation hits with no less than 10 debuts for the label, with Charlotte de Witte, ANNA, B.Traits and Scuba’s SCB project, among the collection of topline artists to release their maiden productions on the imprint. 

Over two decades into its lifespan, Drumcode keeps evolving and excelling, pushing techno forward while remaining wholly respectful of its roots. This reputation for progression was further fueled this summer with its inaugural festival at the NDSM Docklands in Amsterdam, featuring a long list of heavyweights including Nicole Moudaber, Joseph Capriati, Amelie Lens and Ida Engberg, among others. 

As ever, the A-Sides compilation provides a timely opportunity to showcase the full range of its sonic repertoire, with Adam Beyer scrupulously selecting 22 unreleased tracks that have taken prime position in his sets over recent months. 

Outstanding all-round talent ANNA kicks off the compilation with ‘Portable Paradise’, a pulsating cut that sets the tone for the top-shelf club cuts to follow. Also entering the debut field with their first ever Drumcode dalliances are B.Traits and Charlotte de Witte. The esteemed Canadian selector offers up ‘I Feel The Music’, a euphonic track that’s been sought after since spring, and the Belgian ballista unlocks a thick-edged club bomb in ‘Remember.’

Leaders of Drumcode’s new brigade, exciting Brazilian Wehbba and British techno alchemist Boxia set out to impress. Wehbba’s straight-talking ‘Just’ hits with an immediate sense of urgency before neck-snap claps strike with force, and Boxia’s ‘Final Call’ elicits physical engagement with mellifluous vocals and soaring pads. 

Continuously looking to bolster the profiles of emerging talent, Berlin-based producers Weska and Juliet Fox are brought into the fold with equally engaging razor-sharp tracks that are primed to do lasting damage. 

Other notable highlights include an exhilarating workout from Reset Robot - the most released artist on Beyer’s imprint Truesoul – as he lands on Drumcode for the first time. And tastemaker’s favourite Jel Ford makes a welcome return as he ushers in techno rhythms with bustling breaks in ‘Nightshade.’

Elsewhere, support from label mainstays comes in from Bart Skils, who offers a work of consummate skill in ‘West Of The Moon.’ Alan Fitzpatrick, who’s been heavily featured across the A-Side series, joins forces with Scuba as he operates as his uncompromising alias SCB. The result is a propulsive floor-gripper that testifies to their masterful deftness as co-producers. Formidable duos Dense & Pika and Pig&Dan also contribute with powerful compositions.

B.Traits - I Feel The Music - Drumcode - DC195

Part 2 of the Propaganda remixes picks up where the first left off. Gathering together some of the finest talent in contemporary techno, Oliver Huntemann’s killer LP from late 2017 gets more new reworks and remixes.

'Momentum' is flipped by the ever dependable André Winter, who’s deep and groovy interpretation brings new textures to the orignal and will delight fans of his previous work.

Fur Coat, the producer duo originally from Venezuela and now based in Barcelona, bring their own specific flavour to one of the album highlights, 'Egoist'. Their remix is a stripped down driving techno cut with a deeply acidic undertone.

Olivier Giacomotto, the techno producer from Bordeaux, France, provides a electro infused rework of 'Vertigo', adding sharp
808 patterns, a thick cut groove, and eventually some deep pads to his version.

'Malaria' gets the treatment by SHADED who drops his Dark Stab mix. Skyler Patrick Taugher, the Californian behind the
SHADED moniker, brings a particularly tough mix for one of Huntemann’s key tracks - a sure fire peak time winner.

Another album highlight 'Doppelgänger' is remixed by Berlin resident and Upon You boss Marco Resmann, adding layers of
dynamic rhythym with which to counterpoint his edgy pads and deep synth touches.

'Trick17' is giving a mix by Senso regular Distale. A filthy, low roller with fathoms-deep sub bass and and sparkling percussion.

The young Russian Maksim Dark adds his own interpretation of 'Poltergeist' to the release, edging up the darkness a little
more and producing a growling, tough techno workout that will go over big on a lot of floors this year.

The man from Rostock, Carlo Ruetz, provides a slick dub of 'Der schwarze Kanal’, stripping away any superfluous sounds
and setting the controls fort he heart oft he dancefloor.

Momentum (André Winter Remix)

Victor Ruiz lands his Debut EP on Drumcode.

Victor first released on Drumcode last year on their most recent edition of the famous A-Sides Vol.7 compilation with his colossal track ‘Pulso’. Victor has been relentless when it comes to producing absolutely huge sounding tracks, which are heavily suited to the big club room vibe. This May he steps up for his debut EP on Drumcode with ‘Nimbus’.

The title track ‘Nimbus’ marked an important milestone in his life, his arrival to Berlin, his new home. Due to the lack of studio space and set up, he made Nimbus entirely with headphones and laptop. A piercing track with a punctuated kick drum that cuts through the mix, alongside some industrial tones which build an eerie tension. A track that really sits on the darker side of the progressive techno world.

Victor explains that this release is “very much a mix of old and new” representing two stages of his life. ‘Unveil’ was a track he produced back in Sao Paulo, when day dreaming of his move to Europe. A chunky low end combined with big percussion that makes it more of a heady introspective track on the release. It most definitely shows a more experimental side Victor but is welcomed and makes for a thunderous dancefloor track.

Timmo returns to Terminal M to release his highly anticipated debut album ‘Starlight’ this September. 
 
Since making his debut in 2008, Bulgarian talent Valeri Ivanov, aka Timmo, has swiftly become a name of note within the current techno landscape following with a string of releases via some of the biggest labels in the scene, from Adam Beyer’s Drumcode and of course Monika Kruse’s Terminal M imprint. Having emerged as a core figure for the label following his collaboration ‘Violet’ with Kruse back in May, and leading straight on from his ‘Starlight’ EP which featured three tracks from the extensive body of work in early June, the imprint will now welcome the arrival of his eleven-track LP ‘Starlight’, featuring a combination of club-focused tracks alongside more emotive soundscapes. 
 
“’Starlight’ is my debut album, and I’m very happy it’s going to be out on Monika Kruse’s Terminal M. It took me more than a year to finish and create it as an experience, the way I felt it should be. Starting with more melodic tracks, going through more energetic and electric ones and finishing off with some acid. 
 
All 11 songs have been recorded in my home studio in Sofia, using a variety of synths and modules, some dating back to the early 80s like the Roland Juno 60, and some being brand new or improved versions of classic synthesizers such as the Sequential Prophet 6.” - Timmo 
 
Opening via the ominous ‘Leaving Earth’ and flowing straight into the action via the acid laced ‘New Beginning’, the eleven-track project swiftly takes its form as a balance of driving, uncompromising productions accented by subtle interludes and moments  of  space.  Take  for  example  the  bubbling  ‘Solar’  and  the  warping  ‘Belle  Epoque’,  which  keep  the  focus  on oscillating synths and regimented percussion, whilst title cut ‘Starlight’ takes control and ups the energy via soaring lead synths and frenzied electrics. 
 
Next up, ‘Sonic Voyage’ reveals yet another twisting journey as Timmo merges ever-evolving leads with restrained vocal snippets, whilst ‘Vortex’ and ‘Spacefreaks’ add further energy via a medley of hefty kicks and menacing bass patterns throughout. Entering into the final three cuts, ‘Rhythm X’ brings forth further infectious 303-lines, tripped out vocal hooks and slick hats to head further into the peak time, whilst the darker ‘Connect’ throws its hat into the mix via a combination of commanding female vocals and choppy bass licks, before arriving at closing track ‘Interspace’ which lowers the tempo and switches the emphasis towards bright synth melodies and calming breaks featuring rich soundscapes to punctuate the project in emphatic fashion. 
 
Channeling main room sonics whilst intertwining rich melodies and softer tones throughout, ‘Starlight’ sees the unveiling of Timmo’s most complete body of work as he continues his ascent as one of his genres leading talents via the ever-impressing Terminal M.

Alan Fitzpatrick keeps moving from strength to strength with his ‘We Are The Brave’ imprint. Following on from their successful summer, the label get back to their underground roots as we enter the club season. Next up we’ve got two deep, ominous rollers from Portsmouth lad ‘A.S.H’. 

Acid tinged 'Kiss' sets the deep moody tone for the record, where colossal kick drums ride along with a delicate, yet impressive array of synths and arpeggios drift over the top. 'Kiss' is remarkably dreamy at the same time as being immersive and full-bodied, the lead synth rips through the speakers and the drops bring the sensations needed for the club.

'Reactor' sets off similarly, but soon breaks off into a bright arpeggiated lead synth line that reverberates through the track right up to the drop. 'Reactor' is then interrupted by a fierce and brooding synth lead! Big drums take control of your feet while the synths take your ears for a ride and the result is a beautifully hard, melodic techno wonder!
