Caressing from one track to another, the use of pads in this EP and using uneasy sounds to build tension in each track. Before his first track on dasMoment was even released, Julian Crue approached Yannick with the request to remix “Hypmn” (Hypomania). Just a few days later, the stems landed in his inbox, and the creative flow started immediately.

The title “Hypomania” turned out to be the perfect description of the process: driven by energy, restless, and overflowing with ideas. Julian couldn’t sit still—each step unfolded naturally, even leading to a spontaneous twist that emerged right out of the moment.

This remix is a milestone for Julian, marking his very first official rework. And what better way to begin than with Hypmn? His interpretation slows things down slightly, infusing the track with an extra layer of psychedelic sounds, groovy rhythms, and an uplifting vibe. While the original’s captivating melody remains at the heart, Julian’s production transforms it into a new dialogue between depth and energy.

It’s Wednesday and we’re inexplicably still busy recovering from what was another intense weekend for us at DT covering dancefloors across the UK and beyond.  So to help alleviate those midweek blues how about a world exclusive premiere of a fresh track to get you looking forward to next weekend early?

Well, here we have revered Roman producer Andrea Frisina making an assertive return on his own Gate Null imprint, following hot on the heels of the release of his well received Wild Prairie EP. Titled Landing On Enceladus we're pleased to see the Italian add another stellar chapter to what is fast becoming one of the most discerning of catalogues; so pleased in fact, that we just had to secure the groovy techno stomper as an exclusive premiere ahead of its September 14th release.

Italy’s fastest rising name in house and techno returns to the respected Drumcode imprint with this blistering new 4-track EP, ‘Climax’. Featuring a distinctive vocal sample crescending over a typically thumping bassline, opening lead track ‘Climax’ grows gradually with the introduction of a single synth note and skipping hi-hats. Two beatless breakdowns increase the pressure whilst a new synth melody is introduced in the second, making for a powerful ending as all the elements join together.

‘Boost’ starts out deep and dark, with a high-pitched call echoing over a determined beat. The track changes course mid-way through with the introduction of a bassy, low-pitched synth melody, helping ‘Boost’ evolve into a catchier, more playful track.

‘Spectre’, a no-nonsense closing piece featuring a jittering synth note, rattling hi-hats and a trademark tension-filled breakdown.

‘Over The Clouds’, as its name would suggest, is the gentlest of the four tracks. Filled with dusty textures over a rumbling bassline, twinkling synths move in waves before lower-pitched chords join, adding a real sense of depth to this production.

Overall, ‘Climax’ is an outstanding example of Faraone’s ear for detail as a producer: his experience as both a resident and touring DJ clearly feeds into his skill for manipulating tension in his productions like he does on the dancefloors. Having recently warmed up for Adam Beyer at Tenax, Marco Faraone’s relationship with the iconic label continues to grow.

"Young artist Charlotte de Witte continues to bolster a credible catalogue of tough, no-nonsense Techno with the introduction of her second solo EP for Tiga’s extolled Turbo Recordings. 

With a recent nod from Alan Fitzpatrick who included her Weltschmerz (Melodic Theme) in his recent Fabric mix she is an artist with a penchant for dark and moody atmospherics. Now - after her inclusion in the recent 12-track VA on Suara - the previously gold-selling Ghentian producer follows up her collaboration with Oscar & The Wolf and her first solo EP on London’s Bad Life with Sehnsucht: a bold four-track record packed with burly kick drums, steely synth tones and hypnotic vocal sampling primed for discerning big-room crowds. Also included in the package is a ruthless remix from Suara boss Coyu.

The title track is an apocalyptic march propelled by a purposeful kick and an unapologetic clap that keeps the pressure up throughout before ‘My Feeling’ lays a circling, hypnotic vocal over scuttling claps and luminous, flashing hi hats. 

Coyu then steps in with his take on ‘My Feeling’, pushing it into overdrive and marrying brash, white-noise snare drums with shuddering hats and vocal snippets. 

‘Enough’ then sets sharp drums knocking against cold and capacious textures before a disquieting and arresting vocal suffuses the track to stunning effect. ‘Den Ganzen Abend’ then brings the record to a sinister close as a pellucid German vocal sample is set creeping over an ineffably weighty low-end sitting it comfortably on the floor of Berghain and capping off another coup for a consistently reliable label and an artist firmly on her ascent."

It doesn’t get much bigger than this: Adam Beyer links up with Green Velvet and Drumcode’s outstanding rising star Layton Giordani for a debut collaboration.

Some musical partnerships feel fated. Both fans of one another’s work, for years Adam Beyer and Green Velvet had discussed writing music together. In turn, Beyer’s protégé Layton Giordani had admired the Chicagoan’s work for as long as he could remember. When the 25-year-old found himself playing alongside the green mohawked legend at Belfast’s Shine, the spark and subsequent friendship was immediate. With the links now set in place, it was only a matter of time before the trio’s creative chemistry would manifest musically. 

‘Space Date’ was conceived organically and birthed quickly. Propelled by Green Velvet’s trademark vocal hypnotism, the triumvirate combine to craft a pumping intergalactic slice of techno laced in melody that’s highlighted sets by Beyer at Awakenings, Ushuaia and also EDC Vegas when Green Velvet dropped it to a raucous response. The track is complimented by ‘Rome Future’, the product of a year-long series of productions between Beyer and Giordani. Deftly combining crisp drum work, catchy vocal effects and a powerful bassline melody that gives the track an almighty kick, it will be familiar to many who’ve followed their sets over recent months.

If you want a snapshot of where techno stands in any given year, and a preview of where it’s headed, look no further than Drumcode’s A-Sides compilation. Since 2012 it has marked the label debuts of countless vital Drumcode artists and affiliates, from Layton Giordani, Wehbba and Boxia, to Amelie Lens and ANNA, no less. Every year, new names are unearthed, tried and true techno contributors serve up their best, and icons of the industry land their debut on Adam Beyer’s storied label.

The 2020 edition hits with 13 tracks, eight coming from label debutants. There’s Eats Everything searing rave bomb ‘Organico’ and Dubfire’s ice-cool electro offering ‘Deadbug’, both artists landing their maiden contributions to DC after long affiliations with Beyer. With three EPs in less than two years on Truesoul, Oscar L steps up to DC, showing the breadth of his sound palette with a soaring, synth-laden gem ‘Dark Fate’.
