Pan-Pot are back, this time with the Cells EP on their newly formed label, Second State. The new label sees Pan-Pot taking full creative control as they move into the second phase of their career, and both Cells and Third Eye are keen indicators that the pair are starting a new chapter of their sonic journey.

The title track Cells was built around the synthline after it caught Pan-Pot right from the beginning. Similar to a cell starting in its simplest form and expanding, the track builds into a peak of full dynamic and volume and is packed with a variety of frequencies.

The Drumcode A-Sides compilation is quickly becoming synonymous within the techno world as a go to compilation for the hottest tracks that are deservedly A-side material in their own right. Each specific track has it own unique character that brings an outstanding and electrifying aspect to the compilation that as a whole makes it something extremely special. Roberto Capuano has delivered Drumcode an immense 4 track EP that will blow out the cobwebs and see Roberto step back onto Drumcode with a bang. Lacing each track with pads and tantalising hook lines, Capuano’s tracks fire on all cylinders with good use of vocals and drum rhythms. His tracks have a certain swagger that only Roberto can conjure.

<p>Sasha Carassi&#8217;s summer hit gets the full remix treatment and Chicago Loop is up first with his beefed-up version, sprinkled with the Original&#8217;s chopped-up chords and an epic breakdown. Alberto Ruiz is next with a more dubbed-out approach, letting his airtight rhythm section do all the talking. Frankyeffe takes us on a cavernous ride, complete with the familiar progressions and tasty squelches, which ultimately lead us to Taster Peter&#8217;s pad-led remix that relies heavily on the synths as it stomps away.</p>

The ‘Mexico EP’ encapsulates Pig&Dan’s well known signature sound with each of the four tracks bringing their own identity to the release. Christian Smith - Input-Output (Drunken Kong Remix)

Over a 15-year period Truesoul has set the standard for engaging and effective club music, drawing in fans from across the techno spectrum. A relentless dedication to quality means it’s logistically impossible for Adam Beyer to release music from all the impressive artists who send him tracks each year for Truesoul. This EP showcases four such outstanding cuts, all of which have been tried and tested in Beyer’s sets in recent months. Indeed, anyone who witnessed his deliciously groove-ridden daytime set at Sonus Festival in August (or listened via episode DCR370), would have already been treated to an unofficial preview of the release. 

Belgian’s Ramon Tapia kicks the EP off in superb style with ‘Hexagon’, an energetic slice of techno that builds towards a pumping finish. Fast rising Manchester duo OC & Verde team up with Italian producer Veerus for ‘Naaki’, the track highlighted by a rousing call-to-arms vocal that saw it go down a storm during Beyer’s annual gig on the Amnesia Terrace for Cocoon in Ibiza. The beautiful vocal-led ‘Take My Life’ follows courtesy of Spaniard Marc Marzenit, adding an extra dimension to the release, while still having enough percussive fizz to keep the dancefloor moving. Southampton’s Ronnie Spiteri is another emerging talent to create waves in 2017 and he delivers the knockout blow with ‘Sugar Lips’, a chunky soul-infused offering that’ll be effective in house and techno sets alike.

Making his debut on Drumcode in 2017 with his track ‘Fake’ featured on the A-Sides Vol 6 compilation, one of Brazil’s much loved exports Wehbba brings us his first full EP this February with ‘Eclipse’.

A no nonsense 4 track offering, and all thoroughly road tested by Adam, they have gained much support from longtime Drumcode fans. Eclipse, delivers a low end rumble along with a modulating synth line. Reigning high throughout the track, is the undeniably catchy and unique synth. Leaving this track one to be recognised on dancefloors all over the world.

‘Protocol’ doesn't turn down the pace, straight into a chugging hypnotic drive, this track leaks with attitude, along it’s eerie undertones.

Probably the most acid influenced track of the EP, ‘Glasswerk’ has a futuristic modular synth riff which thunders along a hypnotic bass line which flows nicely into ‘Framework’ to close out the EP. Its punchy and powerful kick sits alongside the cleverly crafted synth pattern, taking this track into a dark zone with a groovy element still resonant.
