With Adam’s stature steadily growing as one of the leading talents in the Techno scene and the rise of Drumcode, the standard of demo’s that have been sent to Adam have been top notch. Adam has now decided to release two compilations with 10 tracks each, consisting of tracks that Adam has tried and tested. There are also new artists that have been invited to release on Drumcode for this compilation and others who are a staple in Drumcode’s core family. Combining both old and new talents Drumcode have come up with something unique and distinctive to make this two-part compilation something extra special.

A work 12 months in the making, Adam Beyer continues his exciting series of collaborative EPs, teaming up with heavy-hitters Pig&Dan for an multi-faceted four-tracker.

Chances are up if you spied Adam Beyer in an airport departure lounge over the past 12 months, he’d have his head buried in his laptop, immersed in creating sound sketches. A long-time fan of collaborations, the Drumcode chief has been on an inspiring streak of form lately, teaming up with the likes of Mark Reeve, Dense & Pika and now Pig&Dan. The results have been compelling, to say the least. 

In trademark perfectionist Beyer style, the title track ‘Capsule’ – a shimmering slice of techno - involved “around 15 different versions” the track rigorously road tested by the Swede and featured in episodes of Drumcode Radio to test dancefloor reactions, before finally getting the sign off.  ‘In Love’ is a big room techno groover, driven by crisp drums and the kind of evocative vocal effect that’ll have hairs standing on ends. ‘Atmosfear’ is true to its name, centered on a menacing synth line and gritty percussion, its deep kicks and subterranean bass combining superbly to create a heady dancefloor brew. ‘We Are E’ is propelled by a catchy synth hook and a classic call-to-arms vocal, which tips its cap to the artists’ shared love of classic UK rave.

Raxon lands his first richly-deserved Drumcode EP.

There’s something distinctive about the Egyptian-born artist’s productions that provoke a special response. His debut outing on Drumcode, ‘Dream Space’ soundtracked our favourite takeaway moment from Awakenings Festival in 2019, as Adam Beyer and his three daughters danced along to their mum Ida Engberg’s set, wearing smiles the size of watermelons. More recently, when Beyer played ‘Connection’ during the ‘Drumcode Indoors II’ stream from his Ibiza home, once more, his daughters sprang into dance mode, their fists striking the sky. Raxon’s music just touches you, it’s unavoidable. 

After a pair of contributions to Truesoul and ‘Dream Space’ appearing on A-Sides Vol.8 last year, his maiden Drumcode EP is perfectly timed. ‘Connection’ is catchy intergalactic techno, driven by thick wedges of bass and an irresistible lead hook. ‘Orbit’ initially takes a crunchier and more percussive tone, before rich melodic chords sprout from the darkness to add colour to the mix.

Berlin-based Irish artist Hybrasil returns to Rekids with four murky techno cuts in ‘We Don’t Flip’.

Having made numerous appearances on Rekids including ‘Embers’, his debut album released last year, Hybrasil has become a core artist on Matt Edwards’s label when not releasing on his very own eponymous imprint. Reflecting on an amazingly creative 2019, at the start of this year Hybrasil set a new creative path for his future live shows, writing new music that received regular support from Radio Slave, which is what ultimately shaped this new four-track release.

‘We Don’t Flip’ opens the package with an immediate shadowy aesthetic before rattling kicks, off-beat hats and snappy snares lay down the groove as distorted vocal murmurs join delayed synths. ‘Hour Glass’ is next with its syncopated rhythm and quivering pads before ‘Ikigai’ takes things into wonkier territories courtesy of subtle melodies, metallic atmospherics and dubby chords. Tying everything together, ‘System H’ takes things up a notch, adding extra oomph to the package using powerful drums, rippling bass and deep stabs.
