Foremost international techno outlet Drumcode is delighted to announce the release of its next full-length album, ‘Satellite’, by enduring Italian techno talent Sam Paganini.

Though he has been active since the mid nineties, recent years have been hugely successful for Sam, with searing techno EPs coming on revered labels such as Riche Hawtin’s Plus8, Sven Vath’s Cocoon and of course, Adam Beyer’s Drumcode. In his time he has been responsible for underground hits like ‘Zoe’, ‘Polyester’ and ‘Fire In My Arms’, all of which demonstrate his dynamic understanding of sexy, dark and hypnotic techno grooves and at the same time have earned him plenty of great Beatport chart positions as well as respect from the best in the game.

Incredibly, ‘Satellite’ is Sam’s first full-length album. Informed by his DJ gigs at legendary places like Berghain in Berlin and Cielo in New York, the album starts with a dystopian bit of sonic scene setting, as if a space ship is charging up ready to take off.

From there it’s a case of getting straight down to business. ‘Another Chance’ is a spacey bit of cantering techno and ‘White’ is rooted in devastating kick drums and is riddled with serrated synth lines that build lots of great techno pressure. ‘Down’ is an undulating bit of funky techno complete with choice vocal flourishes and tracks like ‘Lotus’ are prime offerings from the deeper end of the scale.

No two tracks sound the same on Satellite: Sam is always teasing out a new bit of texture, nailing a slightly different vibe or exploring different amounts of light and dark throughout the course of this most excellent album. This is evidenced by diverse cuts like ‘Dusty’, ‘Toxic’ and ‘Rave’.

Despite ‘Satellite’ being Sam’s debut album, it showcases his seductive style in all its glory across 12 fantastic tracks that will leave you begging for more.

After years of mainly working on coproductions, Andre Crom started to dive deep into solo studio work in november 2015, and since then has been pretty much obsessed with nothing else. 

These tracks belong to the first results of these endeavours; more will soon follow.

The EP opens with "Jaunde", a detroit-influenced spacy cut, somewhere between techno and house. Building on the foundation of a solid Kick&Sub groove we are welcomed by a deep and hypnotic arp theme, wrapped into warm bass pads and a classic string. A perfect track for the later hours of a set.

"Ritus" is aimed more towards building tension, an energetic syncopated stab lead, demanding claps and a tight groove build towards an epic breakdown, before a warm pads gives resolve.

"Momentum" is clearly the peaktime cut of the package, built around driving percussions and an intense arp lead.

Charlotte De Witte, one of Belgium's most promising newcomers and known from several EP's on Turbo, makes her OFF debut with a remix of Jaunde, taking things into a more linear and darker direction.

Loco & Jam have quickly climbed the ranks of the global techno scene, proving with release after release that they’re hard-hitting and twisted production style is a force to be reckoned with.  Frankyeffe’s productions are razor sharp and filled with creative motifs that make him a standout of Italian techno.  So what happens when they get in the studio together?  The aptly named Splitting Minds EP.

Both tracks thump with the relentless rhythms these guys have been known for creating, but they employ a fair amount of distinctly musical material, maybe more than you’d expect.  Gigantic synth swells and melodic, arpy builds interspersed between battering breakdowns put this release squarely between techno and progressive, creating an intense synthesis.  Don’t call it uplifting, Splitting Minds is dark and twisted to be sure, but one will find beauty in the madness.

Monaberry founders Super Flu take on A Star Called Akasha, bringing their whimsical flair into the mix. While it retains the initial track’s hypnagogic ambiance, the rework brings forth a bouncier, percussion and string-heavy lateral that aptly makes for a playful yet sombre mood.

Known for his inciting live sets, Berliner Midas104 puts on his producer hat for an interstellar journey into electronica on the Planetarium remix, bringing forth a minimal and synth-ridden composition.

The Township Rebellion troupe chime in on the B side, offering up their own slice of aerial vibe on the Through The Darkness redo. Percussion takes the lead, as the artists concoct a mysterious portion of choral harmonies and upbeat strings, resulting in a guided journey out of the dark ambiance.

Octopus Recordings label chief Sian takes on the Techno powerhouse that is They Can’t Hold Me Back, resulting in an ever stronger dose of pitch black pounding rhythms. Taking cues from the original melodics, Sian’s version is a straight, relentless four to the floor upshot.

Martin Landsky (@ martinlandsky) is no stranger to those with an ear for the finer sounds of electronic music. His discography is a journey through many styles and yet more influential labels - from Mobilee and Systematic, through groove-laden cuts for Upon You, and on to his long association with Poker Flat Recordings that goes back to 2001.

Even with that legacy, 'Being Me' is among his strongest for the label - a tough dancefloor work out loaded with mischievous intent and a swirling, narcotic urgency. 

The Dub Remix reconfigures the track elements into a more dubwise version - space and echo play an increased role, leaving ample room for each element. The third track, 'Norway' - revolves around a crisp and funky groove and sparking, icy synths that cut their way through the mix.

Anyone who’s encountered Christopher Kah’s sounds over the years will know all too well that he’s a multi-talented multi-instrumentalist. 
A true innovator in his field, Kah is a man who takes great pride in ensuring his music is presented in a truly unique format. 
His latest endeavour is RE: SOURCE, a concept where “every track” he explains, “is created with minimum resources”. 
This all comes to light quite brilliantly via his latest, RE: SOURCE 01. Featuring four original tracks, the release also comes backed by four individual videos which demonstrate the producer’s grand knack for live production.

Kicking off matters is the sounds of ‘Blade’. 
Like much of this EP, it’s produced using the Roland TR-8S in conjunction with another of his weapons of choice, the Elektron Digitakt. 
A grandiose and foreboding track with shades of UR at its core, this is trippy techno of the type often emitted from the genre’s godfathers straight out of Detroit.

‘Machine’ is a raw, minimal cut that’s laced with acid from the get-go. Full of muffled vocal patterns, it’s a thoroughly uncompromising spectacle that never lets its guard down for a moment. 
A hypnotic track that’s most definitely suited to peak-time pastures, it’s sure to decimate any dancefloor its let loose on. 
‘Extent’ is next up. A track that ups the ante even further, it’s characterised by its big room capabilities and dramatic overtones. 
Like much of Kah’s best work, it’s not one for the faint of heart, and has already proved a highlight of the French producer’s much-loved live sets.

Culminating the release is the sounds of ‘Warcry’. A gnarly track that’s notable for its restless sheen, it’s full of tantalising claps, snares and a heaving, chugging vibe that ensures the release signs out amongst a general feeling of euphoria. 
A truly captivating release, Kah’s latest is sure to find favour with in-the-know techno heads especially.
