Crosstown Rebels has remained at the forefront of contemporary dance music for nearly two decades. Championing both breakthrough artists as well as those well-established, the 15th of April will see this perfectly encapsulated as label-head Damian Lazarus, global-house duo Gorgon City and rising vocalist Leia Contois team up on Start Over, Crosstown’s biggest release of the year so far.

Ever since Gorgon City’s amazing remix of Sacred Dance of the Demon for my Ancient Moons project, the three of us have been waiting for the right opportunity to work together. Gorgon City echoed a similar sentiment: “We’ve known Damian for years so it's been so fun to finally collaborate! We love the vibe of the tune and we’re so excited to play it at Red Rocks together!”  

Tribal-like drum patterns get things underway on Start Over, as we’re soon graced with the enchanting vocals of Leia Contois. Mesmeric and moving, her delicate lyrical offerings complement the electronic sounds of Damian and Gorgon City, with the introduction of a driving lead bassline in the track’s second half helping to create a hard, club-ready edge. It feels emotive and geared for the dancefloor simultaneously, showcasing an innate chemistry between each artist.

Damian Lazarus: DJ, producer, Crosstown Rebels label-head and internationally-recognised talent. His contributions to electronic music speak for themselves, from championing the likes of Jamie Jones and Seth Troxler in their early days, to running and operating multiple festivals in the form of Day Zero and Get Lost. From global headline tours to achieving several UK Top Ten singles, Gorgon City have become one the UK’s most successful electronic producers in recent years. Crossing over into mainstream popularity whilst remaining true to their underground roots, the boys have sold out venues the world over, with London club highlights including Printworks, Tobacco Dock and O2 Academy Brixton to name a few. US-native Leia Contois is an actress, model and vocalist. Her contributions on Start Over marks her maiden appearance on Crosstown Rebels, setting the tone for a highlight year ahead.

Victor Ruiz has been riding high on the crest of a wave with remixing Luzon - Baguio Track to great acclaim, to appearing on Herblut, Electric Ballroom and Sprout.

D-Nox again is causing a major fuss with his productions (both solo and working with studio partner Beckers) on Suara, Tronic and his own Sprout imprint to name just a few, and the D-Nox & Beckers remix of Quivver riding high in the Beatport techno charts as we speak.

Lets start with ‘Arise'. The beautiful blend of tinkling light arps and big phat bass sounds combine beautifully. Some tracks just come along and cause major devastation, and this is one of those!Press play, listen, and smile!

'Music' (feat. Beckers & Alex Stein) is a solid gem, where the emotive vibes flow lusciously, while the bass wraps you up like a comforting blanket of sound. This is a melodic gem and a half!

Rounding things off nicely, we find 'In Between'. This skippy beat laden moodier affair still oozes melodies and fuses the darker side with the light. Hot stuff!

A.Paul - Well A.Paul is a superb producer and a resident Yin Yang producer for many many years. He owns and runs his own superb labels Ohn CET and Naked Lunch. Both are hugely respected labels. He gives us 2 versions of the original, both are kick ass and in his usual BOMB hard techno style. You watch this one fly.. He also offers a re-dub which is an alternate view on his original remix. SUPERB STUFF!

OUCH.. Phutek. OUSSHH.. This guy.. THIS GUY.. This guy is on fire, his productions are in massive demand by the likes of Carl Cox, with Carl just annihilating ‘nearly’ all his tracks. He was called on by Lisa herself to remix this bad boy. He don’t don’t disappoint. This is techno in its finest form, head down, lets have it. PURE DANCEFLOOR FODDER.. AMAZING !!!

Lastly we give you Yin Yang resident producer Andre Lesu. Andre gives it the original release a list housier flavour but still stick with the original techno vibe, amazing production to what is an amazing remix. Superb job. LOVE IT..
