AtalaiA has crafted an 8 track debut album entitled ‘Moving Through Shards’ for Soulful Techno.

Hailing from North East England, DJ and producer Daniel O’Sullivan a.k.a AtalaiA has carved out a unique reputation by playing in excess of a whopping 1000 sunsets in Ibiza. Now he has translated his knowledge as a selector into an audible trademark.

“I had a strong urge to reach out and collaborate with other artists and capture this special point in time. The album is hugely influenced by the 15 years I’ve spent in Ibiza. It’s a place that has shaped myself and my sound. Critically, it’s a new bridge between myself and anyone who has crossed paths with me, and hopefully a lot of new listeners, as we all begin again. I really want to thank everyone who has been on the musical journey with me - from sunsets to ten hour sets”.

The album contains tracks ‘Moving Through Shards’ and ‘There You Go’, that are designed to deliver in a club, while ‘Solar Tones’, will resonate in the sunshine at Café Mambo. Others were made for contemplative home listening like ‘Cha+NllZ’ - written for friends at their apartment on the island.

Leftwing & Kody, aka Jon Kong and Chris Aidy, return to Anjunadeep after “Deep In”, their epic contribution to last year’s label compilation. 

“Tell Me” sees them develop the wide-ranging sounds that have been released on labels as diverse as Exploited, OFF and Suara, channeling throwback progressive influences to great effect. Cascading synths rain down over a surging bassline, with ethereal vocals adding a sophisticated touch to this peak-time monster.

The track will be featured on the upcoming compilation 'Anjunadeep 06 Mixed By James Grant & Jody Wisternoff', released on September 8th on Anjunadeep.

Hunee just happens to be our favourite Korean Berliner. Not only because he's particularly nifty behind the crossfaders, but also due to his handsome approach to making house and techno. His releases have been few and far between, rightfully choosing quality over quantity with output. But now he returns from a three year hiatus to reveal his long awaited debut longplayer, Hunch Music via Rush Hour.

It continues an ongoing partnership between Hunee and the Amsterdam label—he curated the Soichi Terada-focused Sounds From The Far East compilation back in February.  The album was also recorded in Amsterdam, where Hunee has been living since relocating to the city in 2014 from Berlin via a stint in LA. 

Out of the ten tracks, "Cross Road" had most pulling power. Characterised by acid synths and a rolling drum underbelly, it's cinematic and mystifying in equal measure.

With both MBMers having recently come through for our Label Spotlight in their own backyard, it's thoughtful of them to provide a more tangible souvenir for us to take home from Adelaide – and "Write A Luv Song" is both enjoyable and inscrutable enough to hold interest for the entire long-ass long-haul. You've got subsumed bells and depth-charge bass; weird plasticky pockmarks, like someone popping bubble wrap underwater; synthetic wonky tones, seemingly triggered on a real drum kit at will; and, ironically enough, a lack of consistent untzz.

Still, everything joins up neatly, forming a real toe-tapper: a boiled-down representation of a killer 12" that wantonly disregards the rules at every turn, but just works. Yet another slipstream feeding into the deluge of great music lately coursing out the Down Underground (coining it).
