Houston emcee Anti-Lilly and Portland, ME producer Phoniks have linked up for a collaborative LP that's dropping on 3/8/2014. The album, titled "Stories from the Brass Section", is a journey through the mind of the Houston emcee, filled with thought-provoking rhymes over a soundscape of jazzy piano samples, vinyl horn loops, and dusty drum-breaks created by Phoniks. The pairing of Phoniks vintage east coast production style combined with Anti's classic laid back H-Town delivery and introspective bars make for a combination that is truly fresh, while paying tribute to the originators of their respective sounds at the same time.

Foremost international techno outlet Drumcode is delighted to announce the release of its next full-length album, ‘Satellite’, by enduring Italian techno talent Sam Paganini.

Though he has been active since the mid nineties, recent years have been hugely successful for Sam, with searing techno EPs coming on revered labels such as Riche Hawtin’s Plus8, Sven Vath’s Cocoon and of course, Adam Beyer’s Drumcode. In his time he has been responsible for underground hits like ‘Zoe’, ‘Polyester’ and ‘Fire In My Arms’, all of which demonstrate his dynamic understanding of sexy, dark and hypnotic techno grooves and at the same time have earned him plenty of great Beatport chart positions as well as respect from the best in the game.

Incredibly, ‘Satellite’ is Sam’s first full-length album. Informed by his DJ gigs at legendary places like Berghain in Berlin and Cielo in New York, the album starts with a dystopian bit of sonic scene setting, as if a space ship is charging up ready to take off.

From there it’s a case of getting straight down to business. ‘Another Chance’ is a spacey bit of cantering techno and ‘White’ is rooted in devastating kick drums and is riddled with serrated synth lines that build lots of great techno pressure. ‘Down’ is an undulating bit of funky techno complete with choice vocal flourishes and tracks like ‘Lotus’ are prime offerings from the deeper end of the scale.

No two tracks sound the same on Satellite: Sam is always teasing out a new bit of texture, nailing a slightly different vibe or exploring different amounts of light and dark throughout the course of this most excellent album. This is evidenced by diverse cuts like ‘Dusty’, ‘Toxic’ and ‘Rave’.

Despite ‘Satellite’ being Sam’s debut album, it showcases his seductive style in all its glory across 12 fantastic tracks that will leave you begging for more.

Funk'n Deep Podcast 024 - Alen Milivojevic

This is Alex Nothing first EP and it means as much as it means to us than it means to him.
He just started this new life project and we feel like this is one of these guys with a purpose, and true forte. This is just his first step into his musical production career and we feel like it deserves to be recongnised.

“No Air” is as deep and as it is refreshing. There are new and old school vibes while listening to these tracks. 
Somehow you can relate to these beats because the old-school rap and RnB influences are so appealingly mixed with those guitars and beats, but it’s got this juicy and exhuming sense to it.
As you might have guessed, the 90’s is a big part of Alex Nothing's influences because, as he puts it, he “love(s) the emotions it exudes”. 

Mixed with his own experiences, you get ambient samples of skate sessions with his friends and the sound of slamming skateboarding tricks in his tracks. Skating is his second biggest passion (after music) and it allowed him to build himself as a man as well as an artist. 

“This is a real culture, and I think these two things are closely related, skateboarding and music.”
Travelling from the intimate and then communicating with those around us.

Inside and out.
These two things change the visions that we may have of life, the music that was in our ears can change the perception of any landscape, and skate lets people have fun with all the urban elements in our surroundings. 
Taking possession of your environment and shaping it to your will, that's the idea behind this EP. 

“Go forward, never look back.”
That's basically the visions of Alex Nothing at the moment and this EP is his way of giving us the elixir of his actual feelings towards life: what it is, was and should be in all his free, eccentric, nostalgic and yet fresh style.
