Japan’s Risa Taniguchi continues her streak of releases on CLR with the ‘Wakes From Coma’ EP. The tastemaker returns a month after her last outing on Chris Liebing’s label, 'So Loud'.

Risa Taniguchi’s 'Wakes from Coma' two-tracker on Chris Liebing’s CLR is a powerful piece of frenzied techno, with looming synth stabs and incendiary hi-hats piling on the pressure while its rolling beat powers on. The hard-hitting 'Mental Rut' ups the stakes next with distorted walls of noise, hammering kicks, and swirling synth textures that obscure the chopped-up vocal stabs. It's the sound of pure and brilliant dancefloor madness.

The Tokyo-based Risa Taniguchi last appeared on CLR in Spring with the ‘So Loud’ EP, which won support from artists like Dave Clarke, Kelly Lee Owens, and Luke Slater, following her first arrival on Liebing’s label in 2022 alongside Black Asteroid, the ‘Acid Flesh’ EP. At the forefront of the Japanese techno scene, Taniguchi’s music on labels like Second State and Kneaded Pains mixes dark, lo-fi sound, distorted textures, and slow-burning energy that always hits its mark.

The second part of the FORTE Remixes of Pan-Pot’s critically acclaimed collection of singles from 2023 is a sonic journey of reworks by four remarkable remixers: Reinier Zonneveld, Sama’ Abdulhadi, Ramon Tapia and Nojre, each reimagining Pan-Pot's iconic tracks with their unique flair.

Reinier Zonneveld's remix of "UTOPIA" immerses listeners in a fusion of classical finesse and relentless techno essence. Infusing the track with epic melodies and pounding warehouse beats, Zonneveld crafts a mesmerizing experience, presenting what he’s best known for. Mysterious lead intertwine with a gummy bassline, while a deep male vocal commands the break, culminating in a tension-filled drop. Following, Sama Abdulhadi's remix of "PROTO" pulses with a psytrance-like energy, showcasing her distinctive perspective as the first Palestinian DJ on the international stage. Playful rhythms merge with hypnotic basslines, accompanied by intriguing modulated vocals and dynamic rally car sounds. The third remix is by Ramon Tapia, who returned to Second State after his track on the prestigious SUM series, delving into the darker shadows of techno with his rework of "PROTO". Haunting lead melodies and deep male vocals resonate amidst siren wails and crunchy percussion, building tension before the explosive drop. Industrial- like percussions and a stomping kick drive the track create an immersive, atmospheric experience. Closing the chapter is Nojre's rework of "CORE“. The young producer, who recently had his debut EP on Second State, blurres the lines between techno and house, delivering a quintessential techno cut with melodic percussive basslines and dominant leads. DRUNKEN KONG is the project of D. Singh and DJ Kyoko. In 2010, the two started their project when one day, they
suddenly decided to make a track together. Since then they have released two albums on Christian Smith's label Tronic, The Signs Within (2017) and Where We Start (2020) as well as numerous EPs and singles on labels such as Octopus Recordings, Stil Vor Talent and
Terminal M while they remain active with domestic labels such as Session WOMB. All 7 tracks of their EPs in early 2017 on Tronic and Terminal M have entered Beatport Top 100 Techno chart at the same time, which has made an impact on the Asian and global techno scene. 

Since then, their music has been constantly entering top charts. Their music is gaining a lot of attention/support from
international top artists and DJs such as Carl Cox, Adam Beyer, Christian Smith, Monika Kruse, Pan-Pot, Umek, Hernan Cattaneo and Deadmau5, just to name a few. Their release “Repeat” from Octopus Recordings have entered Beatport Techno Top 10, being supported and played by many artists around the globe.

DRUNKEN KONG has always been active in the Tokyo techno scene, playing regularly at major festivals such as Ultra Japan and in clubs such as WOMB, Ageha, Unit, Vent, Contact and Vision Tokyo. The two are constantly attracting new fans with their unique sound and groove. With their powerful DJ style and charisma, the two are able to constantly amuse the audience while expanding their ideas and skills to the next level.
