Following on from the well received various artists series ‘From the Lab to the Club’, MindTrip 09 sees the return of label boss, Pfirter, with 4 brand new tracks, which encapsulate MindTrip’s musical philosophy perfectly.
The sonic soundscape of ‘Otras Dimensiones’ opens proceedings, layering dark and ambient textures. Tension builds throughout the track and really sets the mood for this record.
Anticipation is finally rewarded by the opening bars of ‘Message 1’. The apparently laid back, dark bassline gives rise to high frequency colour which serves to make this track a building cauldron of devilry, which is unrelenting in its pursuit of evil. This is Pfirter at his brilliant best and demonstrates his inimitable style flawlessly.
The flip side of the EP picks up where the A side left off and opens with ‘Futoro Que No’. The minimal, dancefloor sounds of this eerie track are perfect for the dankest and grimiest of settings.
The final track, ‘Casus Belli’ is a driving statement of refusal to compromise. A powerful, dancefloor techno track whose rich analogue sounds blend together deep, fascinating layers and textures, hypnotising the listener as it ebbs and flows.

Amon Tobin occupies a peculiar position in the dance music firmament – a point where the gravitational forces of IDM, EDM, D’n’B and rather more hipster-friendly bass music balance one another out. He’s got every bit the production finesse, and often the weirdness, of WARP luminaries, he can also make some very deep and dark basement-friendly tunes – yet he is something of a rave superstar in the USA, and for The Six Rhythms EP he’s on Dutch loudness-warriors Noisia’s label Division. His Two Fingers guise was originally created for tracks with UK MC Sway, but it’s now an instrumental project. We won’t lie, the other tracks on this EP slide a bit far into stadium rave territory for us, but this one – a healthy dose of body-rocking warehouse electro – does the business and then some. It’s out on 22nd June – you can preorder on the Division site or iTunes.

ARTIST PROFILE:

@rommek

As a recently emerging artist, Rommek has shown promising developments in his own sound, as well as carving his way into the current techno scene. His extensive interest in sound design is embedded within the atmospheric, dark and textured tracks he produces. The London based producer released his debut 'Thought Patterns EP' on Weekend Circuit. This helped to establish his position on the map. Since then, various releases on Sonntag Morgen, Dyad and ARTS have proven his wide appeal through the combination of the energetic, gritty UK sound combined with deep and transcendental aspects. 

In 2016 Rommek joined the iconic Blueprint Records, with his debut 'Moth Hole’ EP and also contributed to the 20 years ‘Structures and Solutions’ compilation. From this he has gained support from the likes of Rødhad, Ben Sims, Inigo Kennedy, Shifted, Luke Slater, The Black Dog and many more.

Whilst being a resident for the promoters Dazed and Confuzed and Loose Lips, plus part of the Urbanum booking agency, Rommek can be often found DJing across Europe and beyond.
