Following up from 2017’s “Tribute To Eddie EP”, a tribute to the late great Eddie Kendricks of The Temptations, Lorca returns with the “Tribute To Larry” EP on a similar tip.

Larry Levan was known for his decade long stint as resident at the legendary Paradise Garage in New York during the 80s. He has since become known as the prototype for modern dance music DJs. His sets were well known for ushering in an electronic, post-disco sound that presaged the ascendance of house music.

It is this sound and era that influences the music of this EP. Taking inspiration from tracks Larry would regularly play in his sets, Lorca brings them in to the now, bringing new life to 2 classic disco/motown cuts that would regularly send the dance floor into a frenzy.

“Larry’s Bomb” takes chops from Dee Dee Bridgewater’s fervent “Bad For Me” taking key elements from an epic 8 minute builder and making them work in a classic four to the floor format. “Look What You Do” follows in a similar fashion but this time loops the belting vocal intro of a Barber Holloway classic under rolling kicks, claps, live guitar and cowbells.

Germany’s Tilman inaugurates his new imprint Pleasant Systems this June with the ‘Adventures’ EP, featuring collaborations with Will Buck and Rhode & Brown.

Mainz, Germany based producer and DJ Tilman has been dropping his twist on contemporary house over the past decade on labels such as Shall Not Fade, Life Is For Living and Quality Vibes as well as his own Fine imprint, run in collaboration with Johannes Albert. Here though, Tilman marks a new beginning with the launch of Pleasant Systems, a new imprint designed to shine a light on vintage inspired house sounds from both himself and friends.

Up first is ‘What’s Mine Is Mine’, a collaboration with Brooklyn’s Will Buck which lays down an amalgamation of airy synth pads, choppy bass stabs, bright piano lines and enchanting flute like melodies atop a swinging drum groove. ‘Strawberry Fields’ follows, stripping things back to shuffled percussion, billowing ethereal textures and wandering sub bass tones while fluttering brass tones and resonant leads ebb and flow within.

‘Velvet Park’ opens the flip side, this time joining forces with Rhode & Brown, embracing a classic sound with raw crunchy drums, delayed piano chords, bumpy bass stabs, cinematic strings and brass hooks throughout. ‘Lovin'’ then rounds out the release, dropping the tempo, featuring the voice of Tilman himself and laying focus on off-kilter organic percussion, twinkling resonant tones, eighties tinged synth chords and g funk moog style bass to perfectly conclude Pleasant System’s debut...

Celebrating the label’s 25th anniversary, Far Out Recordings presents a series of limited edition vinyl 12”s highlighting its contribution to underground dance music. Including reissues of sought-after floor fillers, previously unreleased club tools and brand-new productions from some key players in Far Out history, the series begins with Global Communication’s ‘Space Jazz’ remix of Azymuth’s ‘Jazz Carnival’.
	
One of the label’s most requested reissues, it’s a typically timeless effort from the duo comprising Mark Pritchard and Tom Middleton and has stayed relevant within the house/techno canon for over twenty years. The A side presents the original LP version of Azymuth’s 1996 redux of their all-time classic, instrumental disco hit ‘Jazz Carnival’, which originally appeared on Azymuth’s first full-length venture on Far Out, Carnival (1996).

Presented in a special 25th anniversary house bag, the full-length 12-minute version of this all time classic has been re-mastered from the original DAT and pressed to heavyweight vinyl, it will also be made available digitally for the first time.
