MAT is known in the subculture as a co-initiator of the Ignition series. Since his first experiences at the DJ booth in 1999 at the age of six—shaped by his father, a vocational school teacher for event technology—he has shaped his style from early funk & hip-hop through house to versatile electronic music. Milestones such as his residency at the Mahagoni Bar at Ulrichsplatz in Augsburg, at Palais in Munich, and at City Club Augsburg have shaped his path. Originally created at City Club, Ignition has developed into a private non-profit rave that takes place twice a year beneath a violin maker’s atelier. MAT performs with a self-developed DJ player (Looper Mk2) that unites music production software and CD player in one device. His versatility is especially evident in all-night-long sets: he crafts his sets like a swell—depending on the mood from house to techno to jungle.
