Made up of a mixture of long time summer favourites and new finds from his recent trips to Portugal and Brazil, Wes' Summer Sticky Tapes embodies a typical spontaneous summer day. It starts off breezy and carefree after which it gets infused with adventurous summer energy, stopping by in various exotic places and ending with a dance on the beach.
Typical for Wes' summer, in which he was constantly changing plans according to the weather and mood. This spirit also comes back in the act of the recording; "Even though I started the recording with a well thought out plan, during the recording it felt better to start pulling out tunes of the closet spontaneously", he tells us.

Sticky Tapes is a seasonal mixtape series. Four times a year we ask our favourite selectors to compile a mixtape in the ambiance of the seasons.

At Blush, a seaside venue between Danang and Hoi An, the concluding day of the Hoi An Chronicles music festival unfolded. The event is an initiative of Studio Adventure, co-founded by DJ Tok.

In the afternoon, a remarkable performance was staged by Tok and Marco Yanes. While Tok's role at Studio Adventure has been integral to the festival's development, his DJ skills are equally noteworthy.

Accompanying him was Marco Yanes, a renowned DJ hailing from Hanoi. Marco has also made significant contributions to the DJ community as the founder of HUM Studio, a hub for DJs to learn and showcase their talents.

Kicking off the final day's proceedings, the pair delivered a back-to-back set featuring vibrant house and techno beats. Amid the coastal ambiance, their performance stood out as a memorable highlight of the festival's last day.

Algumas palavras...

As ilhas baleares sempre estiveram quilômetros de distância da minha realidade. Nunca vi os verões de Ibiza e muito menos presenciei a pista ferver ao som do baleárico.
No entanto, eu estive em Salvador, Bahia.
Ali, eu dancei nas praias ao som dos axés, pagodes, afoxés; e saravei nos vários dois de fevereiros quando a praia é todinha só da gente.  
Por conta disso - por eu estar “afroabetizado” demais à essa altura da vida – o baleárico tem um outro sentido dentro de mim.
E esse set evoca o que esse termo representa na minha alma: pistas de dança em formatos de praias, gente preta cantando e dançando, as areias se agitando ao som de vozes fortes e percussões agressivas.

Few words...

The balearic islands have always been miles away from my reality. I’ve never seen the hot summers of Ibiza and all the dance floors there going wild with the balearic beat.
However... I went to Salvador, Bahia.
There I danced on the beaches to the sounds of axés, pagodes and afoxés.
Because of this – due the fact that I am already far too “afroalphabetized” at this point of my life – the concept of balearic have another meaning to me.
This mix evokes what balearic represents to me: brazilian dance floors in shapes of beaches, black people singing and dancing, the sand vibrating due the sound of the booming voices.

Here in Brasil I call "Baleáfrico"!
