January 1963 seventeen year-old Karl Lippard joined the Marines. Lippard explains that he was very adventurous and arrived at Marine Boot Camp with his own parachute and scuba diving equipment. Soon he found himself in Vietnam. Lippard expounds on the first of three key battles that he was involved in-the Battle of the Ca De River Bridge. If he had not engaged the enemy, he and his other Marines would have been annihilated.
