Since the group’s inception from the eclectic underground of San Francsico’s performance art scene, Beats Antique has been notorious for making it impossible to sit still. In this modern incarnation, the musical alliance of producers David Satori and Tommy Cappel is inspired and emphasized by their collaborative partnership with world-renowned belly dance performer and music producer Zoe Jakes.
	All of this sets the scene for Beats Antique’s overtly ambitious stage show, a sensory overload conquest of the festival circuit’s most riotous events, such as Lollapalooza, Austin City Limits, and Outside Lands, as well as a catalog of dates with Bassnectar and a recent run with Les Claypool. 
	Continuing the prolific start to the band’s career, (2 album and 2 EP’s in 3 years) the band are set to release their new album, Blind Threshold, on September 14, 2010 on their own Antique Records imprint. Notable features of the new release include vaporous violins and Danny Elfman-esque dementia; glitchy, laser-guided harmonica provided by Blues Traveler frontman John Popper; and 2 very different vocal tracks that range between restless pop hooks and vibrant Eastern European dance loops. All wrapped into an intricate collection of heavy beats and sub bass. 
	Beats Antique is best imagined as an innovative creature built from the cumulative heritage of the world’s music chasing its tail. However vivid that image, when a marching band groove crashes into bluesy folk chords only to be accompanied by electronic beats and Middle Eastern melodies, you’ll still be surprised. Say’s Satori, “We are excited by the ability to create a huge sound from a relatively small setup, it gives us this whole new world of musical opportunities that we’re just starting to scratch the surface of.”

About Sumner:

Sumner began earning his stripes on the (barely extant) NC club scene in 2007, refining his raw talent into skilled distinction. Recently transplanted to DC, he quickly made himself known to the Capital club world, teaming with local collective, SCANDAL, for gigs at Fly Lounge & Gazuza Lounge, and Will Eastman for his BLISS party at U Street Music Hall. While not in the booth, he tirelessly traverses the eastern seaboard and West Coast, gaining admiration and notoriety for his infamous “Wake Me on Tuesday” house parties. Sumner officially joined Nu Entertainment in August 2011 after teaming up with the label for two Ultrabar gigs earlier in the year. 

Sumner’s years of experience behind the decks and playing the drums have expedited his musical maturity as a producer. He excels in blending genres within his ever-evolving musical palette, resulting in a style uniquely of his own. While he has jokingly labeled himself a “confused” DJ, his sets are characterized by an eclectic harmony of massive electro hooks, melodic breakdowns, and steady techno & minimalistic rhythms, which retain the soul and accessibility of house music. Sumner spent the past four years refining this formula by becoming a student of the industry and studying his influences’ live shows. His savvy for consistently reading the crowds and harnessing dance floor energy has established him as one of the most dynamic and engaging live performers in the Washington scene.
