Roots Sikah is an electronic album influenced by various genres including Dub, Folktronica, Shamstep, Reggae and Arabic folk music. The music on this album uses a diverse number of scales and rhythms found in the Middle East and also makes use of quartertones (gadwal) that gives Arabic music its distinct flavour.

The term Sikah comes from the combination of two words of Persian origin: Si, which means “three,” and the suffix Kah, from the Persian gah meaning “a position.” Sikah therefore, means the third position on the scale Rast (the primary scale of Arabic music). Sikah is also the primary quartertone used in Arabic music, featured on every track of this album.

Glitterbeat doesn’t release many 12” singles (this is the second), but this two-song beauty is so good we couldn’t pass up the chance to put it out. El Leopardo brilliantly morph urban dub textures together with sparse Colombian percussion, spoken incantations and deep, hypnotic bass.

Produced by Dani Boom (Systema Solar) and Felipe Alvarez (from Bogota’s Polen Records), the tracks feature percussionist Juan Carlos Puello ('El Chongo’). The Aside, “El Leopardo,” is inspired by a poem from the acclaimed Colombian poet Raúl Gómez Jattin.

This is a brand new track for your spring/summer outdoor festivals. A classic 5 am  Arabic Dub/Stepper with a bit of a twist and as always driven by the arabic Oud .

Tarab Dub

Ya Raiyat’ is the product of a traditional Yemeni folk song, dismantled and reformed by El Khat and Yemeni inventor, carpenter and music producer Eyal El Wahab. 
Recorded in Eyal's backstreet studio in Tel Aviv filled with mics, speakers and a lot of junk much of which has been repurposed and turned into instruments of every persuasion. 

Sung in Yemeni Arabic, it features a series of handmade instruments including the self-named 'Kearat', a large steel bowl with a piece of wood, some nails and screws and 6 strings sounding like a Banjo-Bass as well as a fuel plastic container and olive oil containers. 
There’s a Pancello as well, which is played with a bow like a cello made out of a saucepan, broken shelf and rope. 

Khat is the natural plant chewed in Yemen and across the Arabic world. 

'Ya Raiyat' comes from a debut album by El Khat set for release later this year.

The originator of the Dub Caravan project is Felix Aburdene - an artist, multi-instrumentalist, producer and composer of Palestinian descent, striving to create a multi-dimensional musical landscape for listeners who are craving something fresh, original and out of this world…This atypical Caravan (project) of sounds is of a nomadic nature and is in constant motion.

It isn’t bound to a single location, country or city. Dub Caravan continuously wanders around the world in pursuit of recruiting Poets, Singers, Musicians and other Artists from various cultures and countries in order to concoct new and original exotic sounds...

Members/partakers of the Dub Caravan project jump on and off as they please but always remain part of the Caravan. Being a member of this project is about belonging to something special without being bound to it. It’s organic, natural and free flowing…

In theory, the music of Dub Caravan is not associated with any one style but it is heavily influenced by Arabic folk music, Electronic music, Dub, Reggae particularly from the Mediterranean and Middle East.
