Surely now the people of Gaza finally deserve a chance to live their lives freely - without restrictions - and not under threat? They deserve real freedom.

Dream Weaver (Gaza Sadness Club Mix)

Quand on évoque depuis le confort de notre coin TV des images de la Palestine -et de Gaza en particulier, on voit des gravats, des blessés et des morts, des bâtiments effondrés, des hordes de malheureux qui marchent le long de routes explosées ou qui hantent des ruines à la recherche de leurs enfants, de nourriture. Un monde de cauchemar. Pourtant la Palestine, c'est le coin -paraît-il- que le bon Dieu avait choisi pour se faire connaître des hommes, c'est l'endroit où Mr. Trump (qui se prend aussi pour le bon Dieu parfois) a envie de bâtir une Riviera; c'est donc, sans doute, le signe que la région belle. Youssef Al Helou, un palestinien journaliste-réalisateur de documentaires qui vit à Londres depuis 11 ans, a réalisé un documentaire qui présente le vrai visage de Gaza, un coin de civilisation millénaire, avec ses vergers, ses plantations d'oliviers, ses musées, ses bars, ses villes, ses monuments et, surtout, ses habitants plein de vitalité, de courage et de dignité. La dignité, c'est parce que leur région est occupée depuis 1948, une occupation encore alourdie en 1967, une occupation condamnée par plusieurs résolutions de l'ONU dont les occupants ne font aucun cas. 
Le film de Youssef Al Halou, "The phoenix of Gaza" met en parallèle deux réalités distinctes sur ce territoire : La beauté et la résilience, le fracas et la désolation, l'avant et l'après... Le pogrome du 7 octobre 2023 perpétré par le Hamas palestinien en Israël a été suivi, dès le lendemain, du pire massacre de populations civiles jamais vu dans la région. Des représailles "talionesques", au centuple. Et une destruction systématique de la beauté d'une région et de ses habitants, désormais sinistrés, que l'on découvre, trop tard hélas, dans ce magnifique documentaire.
