Remixes are a major part of the electronic music history. The club culture take off on remixes, some of the greatest dance hits where made from remixing original tracks.
Our primary purpose is to highlight this exercise by offering the opportunity to artists to either work on a remix of their choice or offer a track to be remixed by an artist they admire. It is overseen and curated by independent music lovers and supported by The Absolut Company, a brand that is permanently involved in the field of contemporary arts and creation with a tradition of supporting artists such as Keith Haring and Andy Warhol. The Absolut Remix project is dedicated to the art of combining or editing existing materials, to produce something new.

As a start, every last Friday of the month, we will unveil a new remix, from a newcomer or a legend, from disco to techno or IDM and house music. And more to come...

Next up in our premiere series we're featuring the latest installation from Subjekt, the Amsterdam based underground sister label of Armada Music. It comes in the form of "Purple EP" by French producer N'to, a soulful three-tracker of which we are unveiling the title track.

N'to was born in Marseille in 1985. His love story with music started in his early childhood with his parents' icons. He started learning to play the guitar when he was ten years old and has never given up making music since then.

Influenced by minimal and techno artists such as James Holden, Extrawelt and Stephan Bodzin, his electronic working is recognisable by his use of smooth melodies surrounded by efficient minimalistic rhythms.

70s rock, 30s swing, hiphop, triphop, pop, jazz, soul, classical music are as many shades N’to can use to colour his tracks. He has been able to create a distinctive, "pointillist" sound that already makes him a key player on the French techno market.

Creating the Hungry Music imprint alongside with his friends Worakls and Joachim Pastor is a chance for him to let his imagination and musical eclecticism flow freely so that he continuously reinvents himself. That’s how his latest project, N’to Live Perc, illustrates his knack for blurring the borders between electronic and acoustic.

We are happy to announce "Layers" the first work of Alex Humann on our record label.
That album contains also three remixes by Faidel, Warmth, and our beloved master Zzzzra.
...Alex says: Usually i feel the need to collect moments of inspiration, situations that brings me different circumstances in my life: sometimes a landscape or a simple composition of shapes or sounds. 
When I connect with an idea awakens in me a strong impulse to portray it in a graphic way through my compositions, emphasizing much more its creative and conceptual content than the technical factor. 
"Layers" is the result of superimposing all those elements, creating a chromatic environment of shapes and colors that have the cold and dense landscape of nature as a guiding thread, the main image of the disc contributes giving this visual focus, those elements alive and Artificial, give meaning to all content.

Alexander Albrecht returns to Francis Harris' Scissor & Thread imprint under his Melquí­ades guise for the Excerpts EP. As with his previous release on the label, Blue Caves, the Melbourne producer delivers a rich and affecting release, blending genres and moods with ease. 

"The idea behind this EP", says Alex Albrecht, "was to capture moments and "excerpts" of my improvised live set. I've used field recordings from a number of places from around the world as inspiration (including my recent visit to New York for the last S&T Tour) for the individual tracks - there's a variety of genres within the release but essentially they were just improvised extended jam sessions. I then chose some interesting excerpts for the record."

'Portal' kicks off the EP, a deep and woozy track with a strong groove, layered with pads and effects that radically enriches the dancefloor cut. 

'Tower Of The Sun' utilizes a similar driving beat, heavy on the hi-hats, but with a more submerged mood, punctuated with distant blasts and shards of noise. 

'Schaefer Street' also employs snappy percussion and snares, intertwined with bubbling melody and ethereal pads and washes. 

The same track is given a re-work by Patrice Scott, thickening up the groove and providing the most out-and-out dancefloor friendly track of the EP, while maintaining the fragments of deep and jazzy melody.
