Pszichedelikus techno, improvizatív zongorajátékok, szellemi szabadság és underground életművészet... talán ezekkel az alapfogalmakkal lehet leginkább behatárolni annak az embernek a munkásságát, akit ma a magyar szcéna Andras Toth-ként ismer és emel méltán piedesztálra. Sajátos, egyedi hangzással rendelkező kiváló zongorista és az egyik legelismertebb magyar techno producer, akit a Butane nevével fémjelzett amerikai Alphahouse és Little Helpers már hosszú évek óta oszlopos tagjaként jegyez. Sorozatunk negyedik részében Andras Toth prezentál közel egy órában, kizárólag saját munkákból válogatva, teletűzdelve friss és eddig kiadatlan darabokkal.

For October we have another Collaboration Special for you. This time we present 'rand', the project of the duo Jan Gerdes and Frank Bogdanowitz aka Dr.Nojoke. During the lockdown Jan and Bogdan met for improvisational sessions, Jan on piano, electronics and effects and Dr.Nojoke on electronics and effects. Together they are exploring new ways to fuse and transform their unique visions through a remarkable interplay.

rand is a crossover project at the interface of classical and electronic music with references to minimal, romantic and contemporary music as well as to jazz, ambient, drone, glitch, clicks & cuts and club music. Jan Gerdes, who as a pianist has mastered both the classical-romantic and contemporary repertoire, has collaborated with some of the leading composers of our time, such as Karlheinz Stockhausen, Helmut Lachenmann and Wolfgang Rihm, and teaches at the University of Potsdam as well as at the Hanns Eisler Music Colleges in Berlin and Mannheim. Frank Bogdanowitz alias Dr.Nojoke has been performing successfully for many years at selected electronic music festivals such as Club Transmediale (Berlin), Boom Festival (Portugal), Piknic Electronik (Montreal), ARMA 17 (Moscow) and has made a name for himself with his own experimental style, which he also represents on his own label Cllkno. What both artists have in common is a fascination for the frontiers of contemporary piano music and experimental club electronics and the acoustic and performative interweaving of individualized, poetic and lyrical piano sound with the overwhelming, orchestral and bizarre soundscapes of electronic music.

In this field of tension between analog and digital sounds, lonely piano lines meet threatening `dronic` sound walls, repetitive piano patterns exist next to crystalline electronic impulses and create fantastic atmospheres and sound scenarios as well as spaces of manifold beauty, poetry and silence.

It's hard to imagine how even experienced adventurers envied these travellers, bound by an invisible, strong thread of excitement for discovery. But what will they become: a collection of fears and questions or the embodiment of a real experience? The cabin shook, the sensors screeched in unison, announcing extreme overload, a bright flash! Emptiness. What is it: strange whispers, snatches of sounds, noises, echoes of the frightening unknown rang in my ears.

It soon turned out that riding the waves of atomic-molecular flow is not so scary. Quantum teleportation is quite a common process for those who have fallen into the cold embrace of a black hole. Random formulas, geometric progressions, and a detailed model of the universe pop up in your mind as if at someone's command. Suddenly, a strange silhouette flashed past - perhaps a clot of dark matter, or perhaps someone got caught in an endless cycle and rushed with great speed into a parallel dimension. The main thing is not to break into particles from such a swirl and strong rotation.

The intergalactic tornado calmed down and the image stabilized. Just think, until recently Cat could not imagine such a story. His eyes widened in surprise. Looking at each other, the friends realized that everything had happened for a reason, they were being watched...
