Hypnopompia is taken from San Mateo' s The Mira Variable EP, out 10 December on 8D Industries

San Mateo said of the track: In my head,“hypnopompia” is a very layered track, and in that I mean to say my own visual take on the music and what I see in my head when I hear the song. “hypnopompia” is the 'state of consciousness leading out of sleep' which I feel like describes not only the track but how it relates to the tracks around it. As “sunwise," now awake, is at the end of the journey presented in my album The Mira Variable. Knowing that, I wanted to make a song that had an ethereal quality to it, a drone that is not a drone, the sound in your head durning an extended sensory deprivation session, or the music you would perceive orbiting Europa. From a technical standpoint, I have been really pro-minimalism on these songs, and what I love about this song is that as dense as it is feels it's only 5 tracks and 2 synths and has this organic quality that makes it hard to tell that it is 100% synth based.

INSHI is a newly created Ukrainian record label hailing from Chernivtsi. Embracing a limitless approach to electronic music, INSHI reflects the massive creative surge happening in the Ukrainian art and music scene right now. Founded by Chernivtsi-based multi-genre electronic music producer Subsai, INSHI centers around the idea of full creative freedom and sonic experimentation, transcending genre boundaries. Like many great creative visions, INSHI was born out of pure passion for music and a strong desire to share it with the world.

For Subsai, the idea of creating a label had always been on the horizon. However, given the uncertainties of today, what was once just a dream began to feel like a necessity. Thus, opening the first chapter of INSHI, he presents Vision — a deep and cinematic album consisting of seven tracks. The album's sound encompasses dynamic bass and futuristic rhythms, as well as dreamy and atmospheric ambient with sensitive vocal elements. The result is a multi-layered, sophisticated debut album suitable for both the dance floor and deep listening.

● In the quiet waters of a pond, tiny green spheres float each with a cluster of cells working together in perfect harmony. This is Volvox, a simple multicellular algae organism, nurturing new colonies in its heart, waiting to grow and flourish. Similarly, in the vibrant skateboarding and music scene of French-speaking Switzerland, a young producer named Dimosoundz emerged from within a tight-knit community. Like the Volvox, he absorbed the influences around him, growing his own creative voice from the heart of this dynamic environment. This premise, both visually and sonically representative, marks the release before you.

Dimosoundz is the creative force behind Dimitri Roulin, embodying his musical ethos by fusing personal influences into a rhythmic experience grounded in his passion for bass-heavy music. Although his background as a breakdancer served a subconscious basis towards his current signature style, his journey as a producer began with a unique academic project that merged skateboarding, electronic and sampled sounds. From being deeply rooted in the Romandy skate scene is where he discovered 90s jungle and related sister genres, drawing inspiration from the community’s emphasis on autonomy, support, and authenticity which cemented HTGSW. 

Much like his lifelong fascination with water and its mysterious underworld, Dimosoundz explores vast, unknown realms in his music through obscure samples and non-musical elements whilst infusing his work with a playful, exploratory spirit. For him, music, skateboarding and underwater exploration are paths of creativity and discovery—parallel journeys of digging beneath the surface to find something new. Though seemingly fresh out of the water but already making waves within the Helvetian scene, Dimosoundz brings an original perspective, blending his unique experiences into a sound distinctly his own.
