This past December, Chuckie & Childsplay took the dance music collective by storm with their inaugural Traphall EP. The genre bending mix of trap, dancehall, hip hop, reggae, and house still has listeners buzzing to this day. The duo’s innovative musical venture resonated with fans, as Chuckie & Childsplay have now released the second Traphall EP as a free download via Dirty Dutch Music. 

The Traphall series is a testament to Chuckie’s forward thinking vision, offering an inimitable fusion of vastly different musical styles from the past and the present. Starting with the EP’s lead single, “Real Gyallis” feat. Natel, listeners are treated to a soothing vocal progression reminiscent of reggae’s timeless classics. Seamlessly transitioning into the drop, Chuckie & Childsplay introduce a manic progression filled with booming drum kicks and powerful synth lines. These various styles are easily distinguishable, maintaining a natural aura throughout the entire track. 

“Bruk Out” keeps the energy flowing right off the bat. Chuckie & Childsplay blend its distinct vocals with an unexpected synth pattern that never once feels out of place. This track is short, punchy and to the point. By the time “Bruk Out” reaches its conclusion, fans will already be looking to hit repeat again and again. 

“Fade Out” sets a chilled, reggae driven mood as it slowly unfolds. The buildup progresses quickly and hits all the right notes once it drops. This no frills production oozes trap and Dirty Dutch, while receiving a dancehall spin that meshes together flawlessly.   

The final track on Traphall gives the EP proper closure that fans have come to expect from the king of Dirty Dutch. “Tight Skirt” begins with Samantha J’s sultry vocals, which shine brightly before Chuckie & Childsplay lead the track into another level. Harnessing a smooth, driving rhythm that’s fueled by powerful vocal loops, Chuckie & Childsplay seamlessly infuse a medley of different genres with unparalleled results. The downtempo finale brings listeners full circle, painting a complete picture from start to finish. “Tight Skirt” debuts another dimension of Traphall, previously untapped in the duo’s first effort. Breathing new life into the Samantha J original, Chuckie & Childsplay showcase limitless potential for future remixes. 

Chuckie & Childsplay continue to put their respect, love, knowledge and skill for this project on full display. An ode to past heroes and new influences alike, this unabashed love letter is another step towards pushing the Traphall sound as far and wide as possible. It’s safe to say that Chuckie & Childsplay have only just begun.
