I listen to Drum and Bass, sometimes I mix Drum and Bass, oh yeah I also make Drum and Bass, I guess you could say I'm bang into Drum and Bass, to be fair :)

I don't care too much about sub genres, if it sounds good I'm rolling with it. I could be honest and say that I tend to lean a bit more towards the dark heavy rollers but generally play/listen/dance to the lot right across the board. (since the time of writing this there appears to be a rise in festival, 4x4, pop sounding DnB, I'm just not into that)

I'm not a massive fan of liquid although some of my favourite tunes of all time would fall into the liquid category, not knocking it by any means, I think I've just gotten more moody over the years lol.

I dig tunes that can give you chills and nightmares but when I play out I play it a bit more lively, I mean I don't want the ravers going home feeling disturbed right?

As of writing this March 2023 I think DnB as a music genre/scene is very strong and sounding the best it has done for years, I've followed it from it's very beginnings, I was a Junglist before DnB even existed and it's had it's high's and lows over the decades but fair to say it's currently at an all time high, in my opinion.

Sure you will get many of the older generation saying old skool (argue amongst yourselves what year is considered old skool)was the golden era and it will never be the same again blah blah blah, yeah I share that sense of nostalgia and there has been some classic periods in the scene particularly in the early days but things move on and DnB can only continue to grow if we embrace the changes, welcome the new skool and pave the way for the next generation of DnB soldiers. DnB is like 30 years old, 30 F*CKING YEARS OLD!!!! Or 30 years new depending on how you look at it but it has a 30 year reign, who would ever have of imagined DnB would still be going in 30 years time and still going strong?

DnB is more than just a music, it's a way of life, once you're hooked in there is no getting away from it, I mean yeah sure some will fall by the wayside but many more have it running in their veins and are serving the DnB life sentence. To some it's a music they can dance to at amazing events and just escape the every day grind for those few hours and literally get lost in the music.  You really do get lost!

DnB is open season all year round, anyone who wants a shot at becoming a Dj or a producer or promotor or whatever side of it you aspire to, you can do it, there's no Simon Cowell here pressing a red buzzer, if you want it, shoot for the f*cking stars and go for it, DnB opens it's arms to new talent all the time, I'm not saying it's easy because it's not, but it's the determined mind set that prevails, anyone can have a voice in this scene if you put the work rate in.

I think the pandemic lent itself to producers having more time to up-skill because post pandemic production levels seem insanely high.
The US is really making big moves at the moment, check out Rolled Up Records out of Orlando, what they have achieved so far in their relatively new lifespan is incredible.

Big ups to everyone doing their bit to keep this thing moving whether you're a producer, a DJ, a raver or listener or just someone who talks about it at work!!!!
