BT Gate X-138 - Dub Techno TV Podcast Series #12

@stojche Cvetanovski (born in 1984 in Skopje, Macedonia) is just a regular rebel trapped in the urban chaos of the 21st century. The trigger factor that inspired him, was the local underground techno scene in Skopje. A city described by Derrick May and Juan Atkins as “the leading hub for Detroit techno on the Balkan Peninsula”. The expansion of the motor city sounds in the Macedonian capital and his mania for vinyl records triggered Stojche to explore his path and dig deeper in this futuristic music phenomenon. After a decade devoted to djing, he shifted to producing, and in 2009 he co-founded "argumento-music-group. He is one of the names on the European circuit that broke through with contributions to labels like A.r.t.less, DMK, Conform (@user-751044313), @subwax-bcn, @grounded-in-humanity, @sounds-benefit-records, @freundderfamilie alongside others. In 2011 he launched his solo imprint “Tangible Assets”. An outlet that has given him the freedom to explore and refine his trademark Detroit – influenced dubbed out productions. “Tangible Assets” reflects a personal statement with emphasized appreciation for the techno history. His discography marked him as one of the names that is still pushing forward the timeless envelope of the initial “hi-tech soul” legacy. In contrast, his dj sets provide further evidence of years spent behind the turntables, resulting in pounding journeys with a dose of emotional content. His constant pursuit for inspiration sits balanced with the pulse of the city life. Locked away in his studio in Berlin where passion and process all catalyze into waveforms of intense voyages, executed by a man who is well in tune with his craft.

Who/what currently inspires you music-wise that has nothing to do with music?

Water and light mostly 

What is your favorite party/collective where you reside and why?

Too many faves. Some heavy hitters off the top are Umami/Echo Flats/Heavenly/Community Chest. They are %100 in it for the experience. Community Chest is a joint force crew of about 7 great crews from Sydney – It’s kinda like when the power rangers come together to make that big robot fighter guy

What was your best moment at the supermarket?

They were playing Bill Withers in a Woollies once and it got me

What is your most recent favorite DJ mix and why?

Max D – Indie Rock on C- was maybe the last one that got me good. Max D only plays by Max D’s rules

Any advice to upcoming DJs/producers?

BAD LIFE 2014

Fever Trails is the eponymous debut single from Fever Trails aka Nicolaas Van Reenan, a 24-year-old South African electronic composer who makes truly genre-defying, beautifully cinematic electronic masterpieces. We found him emerging out of Cape Town's seemingly bottomless well of incredibly talented, forward-thinking young creatives at a time where the city's scene has already given us so much of late.

Wow. Where to start? This is electronic music at it's most beautiful, but we're still not quite sure exactly what it is. 

We can imagine the BBC Radiophonic workshop cooking this up in a studio, only to rip off their 60's garb to reveal themselves as Orbital on synths, Flying Lotus on beats and Fever Trails at the helm sat proudly at the Steinway.

Like the very best electronic music, it's an escapist triumph. Both Fever Trails and Pattern Language transport you to somewhere else, creating vivid images, textures and atmospheres. 'Next level production' is a cliche which gets banded around all too often nowadays in electronic music but for Fever Trails the description falls short. This is otherwordly production, brimming with musicality.

Nicolaas Van Reenan is a lifelong student of music. In his debut offering we can sense his personal journey through indie rock, the Shangaan and Limpopo sounds of his continent and a musical epiphany on his travels in Europe. Finally it was his first festival experience where he fell in love with electronic music, Glastonbury 2008, where he lost a weekend to Shangri La.

Untold millennia of annihilation lay in the wake of the abomination. Its timeless reach stretched across countless generations through fables of its legacy. The deep tremor of each ruthless touch it lay upon mankind’s destiny cast a long and terrible shadow through the many lives denied, the many stories that would remain forever untold. The flesh of each man’s future, torn by early entropy, reduced to dust – vitality joining the dank earth and with each that fell sank the lives of children that would never be. The horror had no name, born of pure, ill anger – a hate filled spirit without a shred of love, save for that which it carried for its brother, death. Waiting for the meaningless rivalries of man to erupt in war, it wakes at the brink of battle, feeding from fear and the cruel hearts of men as they wait with nervous agitation at the edge of slaughter. Their minds so fixated on killing their brothers, they barely notice as dark clouds roll across their battlefield, blotting out the sun and bathing all in the filthy bloodlight. Pushing their lust for death across the brink of reason, each side charging without fear at their enemy’s spears, the unutterable sounds of battle climaxing as its brother, the reaper, starts to swing. Descending into the chaos and slipping between the shadows, the abomination moves without mercy, twin blades moving without rest, writing in the language of carnage on the bodies of men. The horror of its work complete - it drinks in the silence that settles across the battlefield as all lie still, its hatred resonating in the quiet… the MASSACRE beyond it cutting deep.

AGRESSOR BUNX have torn an exceptional groove over the past few years, with previous releases on EATBRAIN including THE ORDER EP and their PROPERTIES OF ADDITION LP leaving a serious impression on the drum and bass community. With the duo representing as part of the core EATBRAIN LEAGUE live crew and having laid waste to raves across Europe with their touring, the time is ripe for their return to their father label for a fresh assault on the eardrums. The MASSACRE EP does just that, with 6 tracks of powerful drum and bass that pack serious low-end weight and ultra dynamic sound design with a pure malevolent intent to massacre the dance.
