Well it had to happen eventually didn’t it. I have been thinking about releasing a DnB record for a long time but had stalled as I hadn’t been finding myself playing up at that tempo and I always want to be able to play the label records out as much as possible. Nowadays I am so all over the place when it comes to tempo that I could easily find myself reaching for 160-170 tracks and so now seems like the perfect time to release some music up at those speeds.

Although these incredible tracks by @tom-jarmey aka Ocean Stirs are the fastest I have released, they are actually some of the deeper cuts on any of the Holding Hands labels and therefore an ideal fit for Submerged. They are very much led by sub, drums and atmosphere, making them ideal for the dark rooms and big systems that we all love.

Don’t get me wrong! Of course they absolutely move and groove to a wonderful degree. Ocean Stirs has managed to get the balance just right here for dance floor exploration and meditation. Eyes down to the max.

We first featured Fiesta Soundsystem on the site last year when he contributed the 33rd mix in our podcast series. Since then things have been quickly heating up for the London-based artist who has released a string of no-holds-barred records on labels such as Scuffed Records, Time Is Now, and Mask Music.

Fiesta Soundsystem has such a knack of bringing together fiery bass workouts and acid euphoria to create a unique blend of future-focused jungle and drum & bass. Now he lands on Of Paradise with a killer 4-tracker ‘Not To Be’, out this Friday. Ahead of the release, we have the exclusive stream of the closing track ‘The Slip’ - a hypnotic dnb roller that perfectly highlights his dark side.

This year, MTA Records will be releasing four seasonal EPs, each with a collection of original tracks from new and rising producers. For the spring edition (out Mar. 18), they've collected brand new beats from Felon, Khésis, Kasbo, Volatile Cycle, Mitekiss and Vacant, the latter's being our personal favourite. Vacant's "Eternal" features deep, undulating bass tones swelling and subsiding beneath echoing vocal samples and a techy arpeggio that sweep in and out of the mix, all of which is guided along by a skittish—but by no means imposing—percussion line. You couldn't really ascribe one particular genre to this one; elements of ambient electronica, drum & bass, footwork and more can be heard in the mix and yet, as you'll hear below, there's more to it than that.

Thick white snow pelted down from above; the path in front of them was barely visible now the sun had set. It was a long walk back through the forest and the group had grown tired after fighting through the wind and the hail. Winter had arrived and it wasn't taking any prisoners. As they reached the depths of the forest they soon realised the snow had covered their tracks; their Hansel and Gretel breadcrumbs were no more. How would they find their way back to base? They would have to take a punt and follow their gut instead...

Following his euphoric debut release on Feel My Bicep, James Shinra brings his skilled productions to one of Scotland's best exporters of electro, Craigie Knowes. Over the last few years Mitch and Max, the guys behind the label, have released heavy hitters from some of the finest artists operating in that sphere, like Carl Finlow, Jensen Interceptor, Maelstrom and Textasy. James Shinra adds to that healthy discography with some acid driven cuts that have a "sinister, wintery feel"...

To wake you up for this new decade, Eastern Promise Audio returns with their first remix album, centered around a new jungle scorcher by Papa Shanti & Somah called Ear to the Ground.
Next to the original it offers no less than 5 remixes by both newcomers and established EPA artists Earl Grey, Optimystic, Phuture-T, Pixl and Reactor Grits.

Being residents with the Unity Sessions sound system in North West England, Papa Shanti & Somah have teamed up to combine their razor sharp skills in dub and jungle to bring Eastern Promise a track which makes you feel the hot breeze of the Jamaican jungle over your skin while wild amen breaks dropkick you down to your center. Making you feel the summer in the heart of this winter, Ear to the Ground gives you the sounds of pure dub to the point of a highly meditative state along with wild jungle styles rolling from one break to the other.

Still, in the meantime both old and new artists of the Eastern Promise label have not remained idle as well. Thus, to keep their skills in focus a firm remix album with breathtaking remixes is the end result.

Optimystic starts off with a firm drumfunk twist on the track, where Arabic sounds and growling bass stabs accompany the original vibe, ultimately culminating in a state of bliss without losing its firm grip.

Earl Grey then takes over in a mind soothing jungle lick where one seems to drift further and further into an intense dream state with each passing minute, making for a calmer but also firm and sexy vibe.

Reactor Grits then takes the track into the realm of modern jungle techno sounds where after some firm rave stabs and jungle mashup ultimately a big climax shall dictate its sound.

Pixl takes the track into the depths of drumfunk science, twisting the breaks over the original serene sound with percussion drums to add a deep and funky groove.

Finally, it is up to Phuture-T to close the curtain with a storm of funky mule breaks breaking your teeth, roaring bass works and the dub vibe of the original expanded into infinity.

Drawing to almost three quarters of an hour, Eastern Promise’s first remix album not only provides you with both new and established talent it always aims to push, but also with the vibe of a track which keeps its edge strongly throughout listening. This is a trip celebrating dub and jungle’s finest hour.

The latest release on @dj-barely-legal's @prettyweirdrecords is an all out electro slammer and its release via the label seems apt as it's full of dancefloor weirdness.

@nikki-nair steps up for this one and 'The Analyst' is part of a two track EP that's already been backed by the likes of Four Tet and Ben UFO. It's pretty easy to see why too. This is our pick of the bunch.

Premiere: E.R.N.E.S.T.O - Caracas [DIRTYBIRD]

Breakthrough UK duo Tibasko are quickly establishing themselves as purveyors of an epic, highly melodic and unique sound that sits somewhere between breaks, house, techno and trance. Annie Mac has been a huge supporter over the last couple of years, which has led to plaudits from BBC Introducing, naming them in The Hot List of acts in August 2019 and number three in their Ones to Watch 2020 list.  
They’ve also been named by Kiss FM as Ones to Watch for 2020 and have had previous releases on notable labels such as W&O Street Tracks and Toolroom with DJ support including Denis Sulta, Hammer, The Black Madonna and many more.
Their latest is the ‘Only You’ EP, which lands on the Another Rhythm imprint: a label to which Tibasko are far from strangers having been a part of their journey from the very start. 


A two-track release, it’s a project that’s indicative of the duo’s unique blend of electronica. With a backbone of broken beats and elegantly intertwining synths, the ravey vocal and pulsing bassline combine to evoke an atmosphere that delicately balances nostalgic yearning and visceral punch. 
Tibasko’s ability to evoke intense, heartfelt emotions while never losing sight of the dancefloor is precisely what connects them so firmly to their audience, and the new release is another prime example of their impressive alchemy.
