Scuffed Recordings launch their new singles series Scuffed Bits with a double-sided single from Scuffed veteran @95Bones and label co-founder @wagerdj.

Scuffed have spent the past four years building a name for themselves as one of the most exciting underground UK club labels of recent years, picking up a DJ Mag Best of British nomination and being named as one of Mixmag’s labels of the year in 2021. Now they look ahead to 2022 with a brand new singles series, Scuffed Bits, which will release one-off singles from members of the Scuffed roster and friends of the label.

Written at the beginning of 2020 just before the pandemic, the two mixes of ‘Purple Hilt’ feature the same sparkling melodies and glitchy acid line, but the two producers offer a distinct approach on each mix by paying homage to different genres that have influenced their work.

‘Purple Hilt’ will be released as the first single on Scuffed Bits on 14th January 2022.

The room was deafly silent; so quiet she could hear her heart pulsing and the blood coursing through her veins. Hours had passed since she first arrived, there had been no sonic or visual stimuli to keep her mind busy; she'd taken to fixing her gaze on a spot on the wall in the hope that it might force something indescribable to happen. The wait felt endless, like an infinite stretch of time with no end in sight, how long could this torture go on for?

Manchester's Left, Right & Centre return for their first release of 2022 and the third artist-led release on the label. At the helm this time it's Bristol-based producer and Rinse France resident Pluralist who has previously put out rhythmic outings for Panel Audio, Manuka Records and Control Freak Recordings. For this three track excursion, titled B Squared, Pluralist treats us to another batch of syncopated drum patterns, rumbling subs and pacy techno mutations that are ready to heat up any dance floor.

Following 4 years in operation as an online-community and monthly Threads Radio show, the All Colours crew are evolving into a record label and party. Having kicked things off with a jam-packed launch event at South East London’s Fox & Firkin venue this February, the crew are now prepped to unveil the All Colours Music arm of the project with a 10-track VA release of uk garage, breaks, 140/bassweight and jungle from a stellar lineup of established artists and newcomers alike.

Dudbridge Garage International co-founder LeftLeft returns with his second solo release on the label, with three new genre-dodging tracks bridging the gap between melodic and minimalistic club music. ‘Zooki’s Return’ sees LeftLeft exploring new musical territory, with an altogether more laidback track influenced by trap and alternative R&B. It’s an unexpected end to the release, but one that shows LeftLeft’s plethora of influences and production skills.

OS Premiere: LeftLeft - Zooki's Return [Dudbridge Garage International]

@djgagreflex brings her Sisyphean Rhythms EP to Scuffed Recordings, weaving deftly between weighty breaks and percussive, rolling house across three tracks.

Originally from Seattle and now based in Berlin, Gag Reflex has spent the past few years gathering pace as a DJ in the U.S. with residencies in Seattle, Portland and San Francisco - and more recently with club appearances in Berlin and Lisbon, along with mixes for platforms including Rinse FM, HÖR, and Honey Soundsystem.

As a producer, her work nods variously to classic rave, techno and breaks influences, with a penchant for percussion and dark, oppressive atmospherics. With previous releases coming via none/such, Circa AD and Naive sublabel Naivety, Gag Reflex has gone a long way to establishing her sound and picking up some heavyweight support in the process.

The Sisyphean Rhythms EP features three new tracks exploring different facets of Gag Reflex’s sound - from the intense surge of opener Concussion, to the rolling flow of club tool Spit, and closing with the all-out rush of Valve.
