This was the first song I ever wrote - it's about feeling like the world expects you to find happiness in relationships, but you're cool just being with you. Relationships aren't the end-all be-all for me, and I'm tired of explaining that to everyone. I went on a few dates with someone who was instantly taken with me, and I felt an immense amount of guilt, as if his feelings were my fault. At the end of the song, I come to realization that it's not my fault, and people really shouldn't be forcing their emotions on you so strongly, so quickly, "please listen, you should've known." I say it almost makes me cry as an expression of frustration, I could almost cry with how sick I am of this narrative being played over & over in my life.
