Sonically, Sammy combines her melody-driven vocals with the neo-psychedelia of dream pop. Saturated guitars and visceral textures unveil the overdriven inner workings of her mind.

Much of Sammy’s lyrical work stems from her fascination with self-observation. With confessional motifs at play, she writes by taking a step outside of herself to achieve a surrealistic, wide-angle lens of her place in this world. In her pursuit of truth for all the complex nuances of life, Sammy guides you through her colorful internal monologue, dotted with personal anecdotes and her quirky, tongue-in-cheek metaphors.

After a year spent perusing the music scenes of NYC and its surrounding neighborhoods, Sammy Cannillo has found her place as a solo artist among Chicago’s burgeoning indie-rock scene.

Sammy has since released two EPs, ‘Dissonance’ (2016) and ‘Interim’ (2017). Her latest single ‘What Happened’ premiered in August 2019, and she is currently working on new music planned for release in the spring of 2020.

Once described as having found the “happy medium between Juno soundtrack and dream pop”, Sammy is carving out her own path of introspective and existential indie-rock. Further release details to follow.
