Ancestral Digital Label is an independent house imprint based in Portugal, focusing on the finest house music from across the world. The label is run by PT based
DJ/Producer Hélder Teixeira.

Ancestral's sole objective is to focus on bringing music lovers quality music as opposed to quantity and establishing the label as a purveyor of the finest in underground house music.

We are small label and we are focused on releasing some nice and groovy deep and tech house tracks. We're not trying to rule the world, we just love what we do. Music is our passion and we're keep on digging to find some unknown and unreleased treasures and then, we're asking our well- known friends to do a remix for what we have found. Simple and effective.

ell, I remember—back in the days when raves were promoted primarily by flyers printed on actual paper and distributed to record shops that had bricks-and-mortar storefronts you could go and visit—that a “DJ profile” used to just mean someone’s name and their affiliations to rave collectives…and, later, to record labels. Sure, those DJs that were big enough to have an agent probably already had a paragraph or two about them written down somewhere, but they circulated in a smaller, closed circuit of “professionals” behind the scenes. About 15 years later (for me, at least), even beginning DJs have a carefully-crafted “bio” to email to anyone, to bundle into their press kit, and to post on their blog, personal website, MySpace Music profile, Facebook fanpage, Soundcloud user page, Resident Advisor DJ page, and so on. The move of event promotion from paper flyers (where text space is expensive) to the internet (where space is cheap, but attention is hard to keep) has vastly expanded the amount of information we expect to have available for a DJ: a few well-targeted web searches about any particular DJ will provide you with a discography (including collaborations and remixes), DJ-charts (where a DJ lists his/her “top ten” records of the moment), several versions of the DJ’s biography, images of him/her, DJ-mixes/podcasts, videos of the DJ performing live, and—if s/he is doing well—a few interviews. These changed expectations mean that DJs launching their careers now are under enormous pressure to generate “media presence” at levels that DJs of the 80s and 90s never even imagined. In particular, the “biographic” aspect of the DJ profile has become an important element of career-building and marketing; and, like any other type of marketing, there are certain narratives (story lines, themes, events) that “sell” well.

In other words, there are clichés and standard formulas for writing a DJ profile, and the sheer number of DJ profiles available today makes these clichés obvious. Certainly, anyone who goes out to Electronic Dance Music (EDM) events (and, therefore, is active in the online communities that list these events) has probably read hundreds if not thousands of DJ bios already, and can probably name a few of these formulas without effort. When I polled friends and acquaintances who were involved in EDM scenes, here’s the short list I got (including a few of my own)

Helder Teixeira has spent years fine-tuning his music winning formula.

"I always had a non-dj approach of djing, in the sense that when playing i am not focussing on making the floor go crazy or focussing on the idea of always keeping the energy level up, up, up!
But i am very passionate about sharing with the crowd what i think are the dopest records of the moment or the dopest classics.

In that sense i’m not pretending to be “right” or “wrong” and i will not make 100% of everybody happy, but i feel that my duty is to inform people of what’s really hot, would it be timeless classics or brand new records.
I’m always trying to present to people a little bit of the history of “my” beloved House and Techno , as i tend to do so by playing very personal “classics” not the Hits from the past but very unique jams that in my mind represent the essence of what is magic in House and Techno."


Born in 1980, Helder Teixeira sparked interest in music early, starting his career in 1992. Began to be known as Dj Narcotic. His musical style was techno and played at private parties for friends.

In 1994 opted for Acid House, playing themes of Phuture, Fast Eddie, DJ Pierre, DJ Camacho and many others. After just over a year, gives himself completely, the whole slope House!

Until today, has played in some emblematic portuguese clubs like as: "Penha Club", "Opera-Prima" (Famalicão), "Hit" (Pov. Varzim), "Tipografia" (Famalicão), "Swing" (Pov. Lanhoso) "Enseada" (Pov. Varzim), "Botequim" (Braga), "House Kaffé" (Braga), "Astória" (Braga), "Barbieri" (Braga), "Amo-te Braga" (Braga), "Black Jack "(Vilamoura)," Romania III (Vilamoura) "," Estação da Luz "(Aveiro) and events such as: The Week In A Paradise Called Portugal - 1996, Enterro da Gata 1998 and Queima das Fitas 2000, Mit Penha and Twins Praia. He shared the booth with names like as: Dj Vibe, Rui Vargas, Jiggy, Luís "XL" Garcia, Mario Roque, Tó Ricciardi, and many others.

Influenced by artists like: "Little" Louie Vega, Francois K, Joe Claussell, DJ Deep, Julien Jabre, Dj Vibe, Danny Krivit, Terry Hunter, Frankie Knuckles, Tito Puente, Mr V, Ron Trent, Kyle Eastwood and many others! Helder Teixeira thus achieves a fusion of styles, ranging from Deep House, Tech House and Techno.
