Nowhere near as fun as the shows I missed at Flash in DC, Good Room in NYC, and Smart Bar in Chicago, but if you were planning to hit any of those then stick this on for a taste of what I was gonna play. The Ostrava-based electronic duo Chryzotil 271 are releasing their debut album Mimikry, following their Bonsai EP (2024). Here, the intensity of dance electronics fuses with the organic chaos and declaimed vocals, propelling the music forward at high tempo. The result is a raw recording while emphasizing inner conflict. From psychedelic beats and massive bass lines to layered vocal samples: an eight-sided puzzle of disparate pieces and fragments of memories from a dystopian world without a happy ending.

We always feel hyped when we're due to open up to booth to NTS/BBC Radio 1 host and revered selector, Moxie. The vibes she provides each time she steps inside is forever on point. Hers is a kind of dancefloor dexterity that's rare to find, being able to seamlessly fuse together an array of genres whilst at the same time constructing it perfectly for the given space and soundsystem. It's why she frequently warms up our Martin Audio rig on Friday nights and no doubt why she's relentlessly invited to play at fellow clubbing haunts and festivals ranging from Brixton's defining DMZ dance to Croatia's Dimensions festival.

A good few years since Moxie first played at our Charterhouse hub, she's since contributed her adept musical expertise to our fabric blog on numerous occasions, but with an upcoming set on Friday 18th September, we deemed it time that she permanently demonstrated the sonic dynamism we experience every time she plays for the people of the internet. While kindly answering a few of our probing questions in the midst of Outlook Festival this week, she also fired over an exclusive and long overdue mixtape.

Under the moniker Throwing Snow, London based producer Ross Tones fuses dubstep, UK funky, house and post-rock that strike a balance between sun-kissed warmth and glacial coldness. A prolific music maker, he has produced a myriad of EPs and remixes on labels like Local Action, Ho Tep, Sneaker Social Club and his own Snowfall imprint, with the distinction of sharing studio time with Flying Lotus and Four Tet and two Boiler Room sets.

He is now lining up the next instalment in his club focused series. ‘Simmer/Subtitles’ is the second two tracker in a string of releases that will culminate on a special extended vinyl release this summer via Houndstooth. A prominent name in the underground, Snow is in his own lane making tunes for the soul and, in his exclusive Dummy Mix, he merges the worlds of his influences once again for an omnious hour of vibes.

"In this mix I wanted to touch on some tracks, new and old, that reference some of the same music that I have on my latest series of releases for Houndstooth." Snow told Dummy. "It's focused on broken drum rhythms and breaks from 170bpm to 125bpm with a dark edge."

So stoked that I FINALLY got around to finishing the second installment of my ’20 Years a Kid’ mixtape series! This second edition covers the years 1998 - 2000 when big beat was mutating into breaks and funk influenced music still reigned supreme. It’s one of the things I love about this era, it’s all about THE FUNK. The funkier the better! Personally I feel that’s something that’s missing a bit these days and is more than due for a comeback (watch this space 😉). For those of you who remember the legendary Globe days in Sydney then this should take you right back to the dancefloor on one of those epic nights! Hard to believe some of these tunes are 20 years old! Good music never dies it seems (or at the very least stops making you bust ‘funkies’ on the dancefloor)! Hope you dig! x

You would be seriously amiss if you hadn't checked out their offering, and the man in questions own contribution to it. Think stripped back, emotionally driven dancefloor juggernauts, with a side edge of cerebral zest.

It's with that same Mantra than Louf approaches this mix. Starting off slow, this electronic dreamscape soon turns into something more steely. Expect the warm sensation at the back of your neck to grow, driven by the desire to dance and introspect, all at the same time.
