Nervous Horizon is happy to present ‘Sogno EP’, the new project by label co-owner Guglielmo Barzacchini, aka TSVI.

Embarking on a journey inside the mind’s most deep and intricate illusions and hallucinations, ‘Sogno EP’ is an exploration into various different types of dream states and altered states of consciousness. Characterised by intricate rhythms, slower beats inspired by techno, dancehall and little to no melodies, the record features Italian ASMR and spoken word to enhance the hazy and hypnotic mood permeating throughout.

Taking a close look at his own states of unconsciousness and channelling them into his musical creation, TSVI dives into the abstract and eerie worlds of the subconscious with a project inspired by surreal dreamscapes, trance states and the concept of shadow work, in which each track explores a different aspect of the depth of the human psyche.

Next entry on TEMET comes courtesy of Victor Praud alias Second., a producer raised in Rezé (very close to our basecamp Nantes) who's previously made a name for himself through Society of Silence, the duo he co-operates alongside fellow French musician Tite.

Second’s debut for TEMET is ideal for both unbothered raving and mental unshackling from reality’s murky thrall.  Coined by Praud himself, the title for the EP - “Rasuba” - is a neologism without meaning that precisely stands for what can not be put into words.

The Marseille-via-Morroco duo Caïn و Muchi will release their new EP Warda وردة in February 2023, on which bass frequencies and knife-sharp percussion arrangements collide with resonant thoughts on mental health, social oppression, and political conflicts.

As a label that pushes distinctive shades of club music, Nervous Horizon’s compilations are always eagerly-anticipated, and their third instalment, ‘NH Vol 3’, is no exception. Featuring cuts by Tzusing and object blue plus long-term affiliates DJ JM and DJ Plead plus head honchos TSVI and Wallwork, it’s another exercise in gold standard percussive club sounds. Italian-Ivorian producer and DJ Ehua (check her mad Boiler Room Bass & Percs set here) has long been pioneering bass sounds from across the globe. The femme culture affiliate blends up elements of bass music, gqom, Hard Drum and house in her own productions, and ‘Meteora’, which we’re premiering below, is one of the most memorable tracks on ‘NH Vol 3’. Driven by a thumping drum line and percussive textures, it reinforces her knack for crafting club music that’s as interesting as it is brutal.

If "Trax From The Back Of The Sofa" was intended to be an unleashing of the sounds of a Strange Riddims party, Vol II is a parable of the 24 hours from the doors opening, dismantling the dancefloor, and a convoy of taxis to some unfortunate volunteer's house. 

Hewn from the quarry of dubs, edits, bootlegs and originals behind the Strange doors, TFTBOTSVOL2 erratically flits between bombastic club material and candid artefacts of the after-hours sessions over the past 4 years. The compilation expands on its prequel not only in volume and breadth of sound, but also in its pervasion of the personality and atmosphere of the Strange Riddims extended family. 

Special thanks as always to all Strange ravers, the straight thru crew, and anybody outside of Manchester who has shown love, bought a track or two or turned somebody on to what we're doing. Don't be a stranger.

A thick blanket of humidity hung low over the city, forcing jackets and coats to be stripped off and slung over shoulders. The streets were alive with chatter and distant melodies that floated through the air; swathes of friends walked their different paths, trying to find a suitable destination for their evening. Perhaps this wasn't the time to be descending into a sweaty basement, but the shaking walls and reverberating whoops and cheers that worked their way up from the depths made it all the more enticing... 

To shed some light on the sounds coming out of his home city of Athens, Trial & Error label boss Marios 'bonebrokk' Naris has curated a compilation that depicts the Greek capital's contemporary club landscape. Athens UHD features 15 artists who are regularly soundtracking the city's clubs, and showcases their distinct style through complex broken drum patterns, harsh textures and Eastern percussion. Our pick of the bunch comes from Thessaloniki-born DJ and producer Aroent, who brings a blend of forward-thinking techno and broken rhythms smothered in harsh industrial reverb.

Low Budget Aliens - REFLOW ARRAY BUFFERING TOOL

He walked further and further, and each step took him closer to his fate. The sound that the leaves made as they crunched under his footsteps was the only thing that could be heard. It was pitch black now, and a fear he had never felt before sunk deep into his stomach. Where had everybody gone? His arms were stretched out in front him, finding trees, branches, and bushes in the darkness that guided him to nowhere. The hairs on the back of his neck stood up straight as he felt a warm wind pass through him. “Are you lost?”

Leeds producer Lawrence Nash unveils a new alias, ZiyiZ, who has built his own mysterious world through visual and audio. Referring to himself as an "archivist", a collector of objects who is merely facilitating a story, his new moniker comes to life for the first time with five tracks on Manchester/Berlin-based label Failed Units. The release, titled Rescue & Research Pt. 3, traverses the psychedelic outer-rims of techno and bass, with our pick “Entity Preferences,” exhibiting the latter.

Absolutely killer 10-tracker debut album on Hakuna Kulala by Russian avant-club producer and DJ Wulffluw XCIV. Designed to cause serious cerebral and physical damage on dance floors across the world.
Innovative and genre-blending, Wulffluw XCIV incorporates industrial/EBM techno and synthetized tones with dembow rhythms, kuduro and gqom to forge layered corporeal music with no geographical borders that feels vast. Each track is richly textured, surgically produced with agility and fierce finesse connecting a barrage of sounds and cultural influences plus high doses of playful and visual appeal. Wulffluw drops multiple emotional club bangers that are intriguing and jittery, marked by the front, harsh and unrelenting percussions, and enriched with repetitive sonic explosions, haunting vocals, cyberpunk ambience, and emphasized loud-soft dynamics. Standout tracks include Ash Bay and the psy-trancy Endelea.
With this album (was he in residency here in Kampala?) Wulffluw XCIV's reveals a vigorous artistic sensitivity defined by his interest in connecting disparate communities and diasporic styles. In the past he has collaborated with musicians from all over the world, among others Ink Midget, Santa Muerte & Rafa Maya, Blastah, Nahshi, Yoshitaka Hikawa, AN System, Icy Flame, and Whiterose.
