'Improvisations', a new compilation from Rinse France's Clad, pulls together future-facing sounds from various close friends and affiliates, half French and half international. UK electronic artist Troy Gunner features on the Grid Records release alongside E-Unity, Kevin Murf, C.Coiffure and more. The compilation's concept is a chance for artists to dip into genres and sounds they're not known for, and on 'The Way You Went Away', Gunner eschews the sorts of darker bass explorations he's made his name with. "This track was recorded on an Uno synth and reflected back in on itself via a spiderweb of effects chains that sit as a foundation around a series of field recordings made across Berlin and Bristol," Troy Gunner says. "It's a deeply personal piece I hold very close to my heart which I originally planned to keep close to my chest indefinitely, as it's dedicated to a good friend that passed away who I sorely miss. Shouts to Clad for putting it out on an absolutely incredible compilation among a plethora of artists I'm really excited about - there is just too much good stuff coming out of France at the moment. Shouts to Haider for gifting me the synth that I built the track on, and for his wisdom (which I've actually sampled in the middle section)." Featuring ASMR-like whispers and intricate sound design, the beatless cut is a beauty.

Premiere: Troy Gunner - 'The Way You Went Away'

Clemency presents ‘Drum Circles Against Lamentation & The Crude Foyer’ - a two track single on 2 B REAL, drawing on Dub & Bleep Techno.

Following 2020’s highly acclaimed ‘References’ EP, this record sees Clemency lean further into her hypnotic dance stylings with two new cuts resolutely facing the dancefloor.

On the A side ‘Drum Circles Against Lamentation’ lays a mesmeric drum loop over tightly wound percussion and sub bass slugs to create an almost runaway momentum. On the flip, ‘The Crude Foyer’ sees Clemency plumbing the depths of atmospheric tension, building an imposing wall of moody sound over a slow motion beat.

In parallel with his main venture, @bfdmrec, label boss Judaah is embarking on a distinct venture with Homemade Sound System - a new imprint that sees him return to the roots of his teenage/early adult's love for Reggaean blends and dancehall riddims. First in line, longstanding French undergrounder @krikorparis steps up with the fresher-than-fresh, funky, bassy goods.

There was a noise, it had started with a bang but now it was a relentless clatter which rattled deep within the engine as it roared. Careering along the freeway with the wind in his hair he looked out upon the sandy desert as the sun went down in the distance. He was racing quickly against time, he had to get there before nightfall otherwise heaven only knows what might happen. He pressed his foot down harder on the accelerator and the clatter grew louder and louder beneath. 

Delay Grounds is set to release a new EP on Bristol based record label Pressure Dome, an imprint which is growing in prominence from strength to strength. The record also features a remix from Suze.

'Sharpen, Moving' celebrates five years of the Timedance imprint, blending the labels original aesthetic and opening it up into new corners of leftfield club music. Artists featuring include the regular faces of Batu, Bruce, Ploy and Metrist, alongside newcomers Kit Seymour, Akiko Haruna and Mang & GRAŃ. Timedance also welcomes techno royalty Peter Van Hoesen with one of his most broken tracks to date, plus new appearances from Patina Echoes contributors Via Maris, Cleyra and Nico.

The compilation showcases Timedance's evolution from 'Bristol techno' to a more global conscious sound, incorporating energies from different scenes and synthesising them into new modern forms.

There was a flickering light which danced and glimmered in the distance. It glowed a faint red in the dark night sky and cast a beacon of light outwards atop the ocean.

As the boat moved forwards through the waves it began to get closer and closer illuminating a path for which they could follow home. This was the signal on Baikal, it had been there for many years and had been the saving grace of many a lost soul. The red light began to pulse and flicker faster... 

Thodén is set to release his debut album on Electroménager, a record which is as themed around material built for the club as it is deconstructed ambience. This is as much a listening experience as it is a heads down moment for the late night dancer.

Pressure Dome emerges from the testbed with a galvanized collection of experiments in hybridity and rhythmic fragmentation. 

Mechanically twisted dancehall sonics, tough club steppers and euphorically charged electronics combine to form an ionized trajectory of uniform motion. A bouncing and fractious ode to the wavelengths of machine pressure. 

Wanting to give back to the city we live in and one that inspires so much creativity in those fortunate enough to access opportunity, all profits from PDCOMP003 will go to Community Care Package, a free food delivery service, for anyone who can't get out or afford fresh fruit and veg during the current pandemic. Thereafter, profits will go to Caring in Bristol, a homeless charity providing services and shelter for those most in need.
