Last week's Ode to Nat at Wiggle was a moment of pure and electric bliss that wholesomely reanimated the original spirit of Wiggle as it did the ethos of its dear, late co-founders Nathan and Lou. Their contagious grins could be felt filling what remaining space was left between the dancers. I arrived exhausted after an 11-hour door-to-door journey from Romania, but the energy from all the faces, familiar and new, quickly swept all that away. Unsurprisingly, Fabian and Josh clearly have it in their blood to pick up the baton from their parents under the guidance of Terry. Everyone who I heard played impeccable sets, but I'm just gutted I didn't get to catch the boys with Harvey under their 3 minds alias earlier on, but I heard it was on point as ever. Wiggle is back, and long may it thrive! Oi oi!

Seesaw is a monthly one-take dj mix series recorded together by dj miss and a guest. The June 2025 edition features Dunaway (sc: @dunawayy)!

dj miss opens June's session with a propulsively groovy mix that dreams of a grinding, sweaty basement moment. Hypnotic vocals ride throbbing basslines until everything begin to dissolve. Dunaway dives into the mess, and together we stitch new lines, threading stuttering drums and strangely assorted bones. Then, Dunaway takes over the mix, animating this new foundation with constant, restless motion and driving towards a furious peak. 

Dunaway(he/they) is a DJ, programmer, and founder of Places — a Hamilton-based radio and DJ collective dedicated to showcasing emerging local talent through weekly radio broadcasts, workshops, and Hamilton-based dance events. On the dancefloor, Dunaway drifts between fourth-world jazz-bient, feathery techno, and percussive switch-ups — delivering a strutting, angular energy that’s groovy, unpredictable, and full of oddball flair. ✨🤲✨ Here’s a set recording at one of the last of a festival-filled summer: @sustain-release-nyc

No set theme/mood, just a journey thru a bunch of tunes I really do love and hoped people would enjoy; but to quote my girl @livwutang, it was rooted in a love for Black music (this mix cover was taken by her during the set <3). Stitching together threads of dubstep, jazz, house, breaks, garage, hip hop, dub, etc.

At some points this kinda feels more like a beat tape with selector style mixing + no long blends. A lil fusion of tired/nervous/letting the tunes shine

MK closing set @ Sustain-Release Festival [NY, Sept '25]

there were a few moments this year - behind the booth and on the floor - that felt really profound. each time it was that subtle, inevitable pull of loopy, restrained dance music that took led me into that state only rhythm can put you in.

this mix traces an inward-to-outward drift: a slow, glistening rise from the depth of the ocean to a sun-kissed surface, if you will.

it’s also the first club random where i mixed some vinyl. one turntable and two digital decks for now, but it already gave me a wonderful new sense of perspective and depth in mixing.

This next episode comes courtesy of a surefire talent from the land down under. Melbourne-based, Beijing-born Moopie has been influential on his local scene as master selector and founder of pioneering record label A Colourful Storm, whose gamut includes juxtaposing genres such as minimal techno, lo-fi pop, hallucinogenic IDM, indie-rock and abstract drum ’n’ bass. Also a vector for the republishing of long-forgotten tracks, it earned respect and put his talents on the map for names like Ben UFO and Helena Hauff to see. A passionate record-digger, Moopie’s craft is intrinsically laced with emotion, striking a balance between clubfloor and bedroom floor that’s convincing enough to win fans in both camps. Far from home, his sound is causing ripples and his rise as an artist is fast in the making. Bassiani Podcast 283 is a live cut from his set at Horoom in August, a richly layered blend of rare and highly saturated rhythms by this budding and versatile polymath.
